He shades preference ahead of Bowmark, who represents last year's winning yard and may well start to fulfil his earlier promise having been gelded. La Botte failed to land a blow in the Lincoln but caught the eye in the trial for that race and merits respect, along with Bowmark's stablemate Chancellor, Group 2 winner Jonquil and the consistent Holloway Boy.
