Smart and consistent type who got his head back in front when proving a neck too strong for the re-opposing Chancellor in a listed contest at Kempton (1m) in December. Has remained in good heart since, third in a Meydan Group 2 last time, and merits respect with William Buick again booked.

Smart performer who notched first success in pattern company when gamely seeing off 10 rivals in a listed race at Goodwood (1¼m, good) in September. Likely to pay his way again this year but entitled to come on for the run following 7 months off and, moreover, dropping to 1m may not be ideal.

Yet to put a foot wrong in his 6-race career, with his 2 defeats coming in the Jersey Stakes at the Royal meeting here last summer and in a big York handicap in August. Signed off 2025 with a listed success at Newbury (7f, good to soft) and he appeals as the type to kick on again this season.

Appeared to be going places when readily landing the odds in 1m York novice last spring, but failed to settle in the French Derby next time and his exuberance again got the better of him back on the Knavesmire in August. However, gelded since and it would be no surprise were he to get back on track.

Debut winner for Sir Michael Stoute and improved to land the Greenham on first run for Andrew Balding last spring before going close in the French 2000 Guineas. Added a Goodwood Group 2 to his CV last summer and, though below par at Abu Dhabi earlier this year, he will be a big player if on-song.

Unlucky second in last year's Britannia at the Royal meeting and eye-catching return to action when fourth in the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton. Failed to make an impact in the Lincoln itself but conditions were perhaps against him (good to soft) and he remains of interest.

Went close in a couple of French Group 1s following big-priced success in the Coventry at the Royal meeting here in 2024. Made the frame on several occasions last season and solid each-way chance if ready to roll following a 6-month absence.

Winner of 1m Newmarket maiden on second of his 2 starts as a juvenile and shaped really well on first run since (missed whole of 2025) when third in a 7f conditions race at Thirsk. Return to this trip will be in his favour but a jolt of improvement is needed now upped in class.

Forecasts

Jonquil (10/3), La Botte (10/3), Remmooz (7/2), Holloway Boy (9/2), Chancellor (7/1), Bowmark (8/1), Rashabar (8/1), Seacruiser (22/1), Naqeeb (40/1)

Verdict

REMMOOZ was unraced at 2 yrs but made good strides last year and there could be more to come from this well-bred colt in the months ahead. He shades preference ahead of Bowmark, who represents last year's winning yard and may well start to fulfil his earlier promise having been gelded. La Botte failed to land a blow in the Lincoln but caught the eye in the trial for that race and merits respect, along with Bowmark's stablemate Chancellor, Group 2 winner Jonquil and the consistent Holloway Boy.
