Thomas And Sonny Crilly Plant Hire Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

4YO plus | Class 4 | 1m 7f 214y | 5 Runners | Turf

Age: 8| Weight: 12-0| J: Harry Brown⁽¹⁰⁾| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 120

8-y-o who boasts a patchy record but avoided mistakes for once and wasn't disgraced back at a more suitable trip when second of 5 over C&D (good) last month, albeit no match for the easy winner. Well treated if able to build on that here.

Form: 29-2462

Rula Bula¹⁷⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 11-13| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 119| D

Returned last season with success in 17f Carlisle handicap in November but only seen 3 times since, fifth of 10 in at Warwick (21f, good to firm) when last seen in April. Has won twice back from a break and she's worth a second look in the betting on chasing debut.

Form: 25/1575-

Mister Cessna^t¹⁵⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 11-10| J: Jack Hogan| T: F O'Brien| OR: 116| CD

Dual winner over hurdles who was successful in this corresponding race on return last season. Became disappointing thereafter and returns from 4 lb below that winning mark as a result.

Form: 1/1264-7

Bobbi's Beauty²⁰⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 11-2| J: S Bowen| T: M Keighley| OR: 108| D

Held her form well on the whole last season and got her reward with an emphatic success in 6-runner handicap at Taunton (2¼m) back in March, responding well to an attacking ride in first-time cheekpieces. Has gone well fresh before, so every chance she can pick up from where she left off.

Form: 442251-

Sweeper System¹⁹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Brendan Powell| T: S Allwood| OR: 106| D

Pulled up on heavy-ground handicap debut over 2½m at Wetherby in January but different proposition dropped back to 2m at the same venue on good to soft in March. Well beaten the following month at Huntingdon (2m, good to soft) and off since ahead of this chasing debut.

Forecasts

Bobbi's Beauty (6/5), Rula Bula (10/3), Bleu D'enfer (4/1), Sweeper System (7/1), Mister Cessna (10/1)

With all bar one of these making their seasonal return, it's difficult to know what to expect. The tentative nod goes to MISTER CESSNA, who won this corresponding race last year and arrives 4 lb below that mark having failed to fire since. Bobbi's Beauty ended last season with a comprehensive success at Taunton, so she gets the nod for the forecast spot over chasing debutant Rula Bula.
