Adaay Of Scarlettp15

Opened his career with wins at Newmarket and Ascot and runner-up next 4 outings at listed/Group 2 level, including in Richmond Stakes at Goodwood (6f). Failed to travel with the same fluency as usual on softer ground than previously in the Gimcrack latest but is the type to bounce back quickly.

Has developed into a useful and likeable juvenile and gave it a good go from the front when 3¼ lengths fourth of 10 in Gimcrack Stakes at York (6f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Back down in grade for polytrack debut and warrants respect.

Knew what was required to make a winning start at Ripon (5f, good to firm) and acquitted himself very well when fourth of 21 in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot (5f). Similar form in defeat in a pair of listed events subsequently but has a bit to prove back at this trip.

Sales price for this Starspangledbanner colt rocketed to €325,000 this year and, having been very well backed, he ran out a comfortable winner on debut at Nottingham (6f). Improved when pushing the odds-on favourite close at Newmarket (6f) since and can go on progressing.

350,000 breeze-up purchase. Knew her job well/knuckled down to make a winning start in a valuable Newmarket novice in early May (third subsequent listed winner). Failed to improve fitted with a tongue strap in Newbury listed event 3 months later but did best of those held up and retains potential.

Easy winner of 6f maiden at Hamilton in July. Seemed to find the step up to 7f against her in Group 3 at Deauville next time and didn't need to improve to resume winning ways with her sights lowered back at 6f in conditions event at Chester 2 weeks ago. More needed back up in grade, though.

Debut winner who advanced her form when 3½ lengths seventh of 27 in Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and ran at least as well when second in listed race at Naas next time, nearest finish having had to wait for a gap. Stopped as if amiss upped to this trip in the Lowther Stakes at York latest.

Forecasts

Moonrise (5/2), Evenfall (11/4), Tawakal (10/3), Adaay Of Scarlett (7/2), Agamemnon (6/1), Social Symbol (10/1), Efsixteen (12/1), Shimmering Sun (14/1), Nicely (25/1), Bated Benevolence (33/1)

Verdict

TAWAKAL has made a highly-encouraging start to his career and has the scope and pedigree to go on progressing now upped in grade, so he's an appealing candidate. Moonrise shaded a tight finish to land the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot 6 weeks ago and is much respected under a 3-lb penalty. Adaay of Scarlett underperformed in the Gimcrack last time but sets the standard on his previous form.
