On the scoresheet 3 times last season, including on reappearance at Catterick last April. Ended the campaign in a lull, but potentially well treated back down to a more suitable trip provided he's ready to roll.
Not the most straightforward and without a win in handicaps, though ran a cracker on seasonal/stable debut when second of 10 at Lingfield last month. Last off the bridle but finished rather tamely at Kempton since and now a first-time tongue tie goes on.
On a long losing run but couldn't have gone much closer returned to 7f when second of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford just over 3 weeks ago, ridden more patiently than of late. Consistency isn't his strongest suit but is very well treated if able to build on that.
Recorded back-to-back turf wins last summer but ended the year on a low-key note and has offered precious little on both starts for new connections.
Steadily progressive sort who took his form up a notch in a change of headgear when decisively off the mark in a Chelmsford handicap last month. Ran at least as well up in grade when a close third there next time and will be a danger to all if handling turf (disappointed sole previous start).
25/1 winner of a division this race on return last year but didn't really kick on thereafter. 7 lb lower today and the suspicion is fresh may well be the time to catch him.
Got off the mark without having to improve at Redcar last September and took his form up a notch when fourth of 13 on handicap debut at Yarmouth the following month. Has left Ed Walker in the interim but he should hold his own in handicaps this campaign.
Ex-French filly who made a winning start for current yard at Newmarket in August. Essentially disappointed in 3 starts since but edging down the weights as a result. Worth a market glance on return.
Long-standing maiden who regularly made the placings in handicaps last season, second of 7 returned to novice company at Chester when last seen in September. One to consider on reappearance with Hollie Doyle up for the first time.
Bounced back to his best when landing 14-runner Leger Legends race here (1m) in September, making all. Mixed bag on final 3 starts of the season, not seen to best effect having raced down the centre when well beaten fourteenth of 21 over C&D in November.
Course winner last summer but mostly below form otherwise. Career-low mark to work with on return but probably best watched, especially should conditions be testing.
Capitalised on a falling mark when scoring over C&D last summer and held his form pretty well thereafter. Just 1 lb higher returning after 4 months off so he's one to keep an eye on with a promising apprentice taking over.
Doubled his tally dropped into claiming company at Leicester back in October, his task made easier with his main market rival underperforming. Has since switched stables and not out of things if ready to go (ran well on return last season).
C&D winner in 2023 but largely disappointing in a handful of starts last season.
Sole success came at Southwell in December 2024. However, ended last season on a low-key note and ran poorly after 5 months off in handicap there in January.

Forecasts
Shazani (4/1), Epictetus (5/1), Stanage (11/2), Miletus (6/1), Melvin Udall (8/1), Zarathos (10/1), Captain Parma (14/1), Red Mirage (16/1), Singoura (16/1), Albeseeingyer (16/1), Folkene (20/1), Forever My Prince (25/1), War Howl (25/1), Capital Guarantee (33/1), Another Investment (50/1)
Cases can be made for any number of these but the most persuasive is for STANAGE, who was a shock winner of one of the divisions of this race last season and the suspicion is fresh may well be the best time to catch him. Epictetus couldn't have gone much closer at Chelmsford recently, so he heads up the opposition, with Captain Parma and Miletus another couple worthy of consideration, too.
