Mark Nield Wealth Management Go North Red Rum Series Final Handicap Chase (GBB Race)

Off time: 15:52 | Winning time: 6m 27.84s

Hudson De Grugy^v¹⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 12-0| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 127| CD

11/2

Quickly returned to form when runner-up here on penultimate start and looked as good as ever when comfortably resuming winning ways over C&D 2 weeks ago, in command before last. Hit with a 7 lb rise but he commands respect in this groove.

Red Delta^p²⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: Jack Andrews| T: Fiona Needham| OR: 125| D

12/1

Generally progressive and added another win to his tally at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Ran a cracker from out of weights when third in last month's Eider Chase at Newcastle (33f) but this marked drop back in trip may not suit ideally on that evidence.

Form: 215213

Chasingouttheblues^p²⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: M Walford| OR: 122| D

10/3

Came from a seemingly impossible position to get off the mark over fences at Wetherby (3m) in December. Enhanced his form since, runner-up at Doncaster prior to seeing off Paddy O'Mahler by ½ length at Catterick (25f) 4 weeks ago. Needs considering despite career-high mark.

Form: 335121

Fierce Warrior^p⁸³

Age: 7| Weight: 11-9| J: N de Boinville| T: N J Henderson| OR: 122| BF| D

8/1

Dual winner over hurdles who confirmed chase debut promise and benefited from step up in trip when off the mark in handicap at Doncaster (3¼m) in November. Gave a reminder he isn't straightforward when pulled up there a month later but freshened up since. Cheekpieces back on.

Form: 021-21P

Paddy O'Mahler^p²⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 10-13| J: Callum Bewley| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR: 112| BF| D

7/2

Has quickly developed into a better chaser than hurdler, making it back-to-back wins when knuckling down well at Haydock (25.6f, good) in December. Posted a career best when rallying second at Catterick (25f) latest and he rates a big player once more.

Form: 5-22112

President Scottie³⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 10-11| J: Danny McMenamin| T: N G Richards| OR: 110| D

11/2

Progressive, dual hurdles winner who didn't progress from a promising start over fences last term and only one real effort of note this time around. Finds himself attractively treated on hurdles form but others arrive with more pressing claims.

Form: 3P-4866

Upfordebate^p,t¹²

Age: 7| Weight: 10-8| J: Paddy Hanlon⁽⁵⁾| T: P Neville| OR: 107| D

18/1

Has thrived since going chasing, winning 4 times at up to 3¼m last year. Not disgraced from much inflated mark upon returning from a break but the assessor may have him about right on that evidence.

Form: 1P1155

No Regrets¹¹³

Age: 12| Weight: 10-8| J: Sean Quinlan| T: N G Richards| OR: 107| D

40/1

At the veteran stage now and proving inconsistent as a rule this season, finishing a respectable second at Hexham (3m) prior to disappointing at Doncaster the following month. Suspect he'll find a few too good in this back from a break.

Form: 2-53624

Inis Oirr^p³⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 10-8| J: D R Fox| T: L Russell & M Scudamore| OR: 107| D

12/1

Wide-margin winner of the Edinburgh National just over 2 years ago but been more miss than hit since, going in snatches (even in change of headgear) when fifth in handicap chase at Musselburgh (3m) 5 weeks ago. Cheekpieces return.

Form: 8P5755

Swallows Song^b,t⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: William Maggs⁽³⁾| T: I Jardine| OR: 94

14/1

Bumper winner who has yet to taste success over jumps but arrives having run best race when second at Newcastle (23f) 8 days ago, his finishing effort more convincing than can often be the case. Has considerably more on his plate in this line up from 7 lb out of the weights.

Form: 744642

Uptown Harry^v¹⁹

Age: 12| Weight: 10-2| J: Charlie Maggs⁽³⁾| T: Mrs J Walton| OR: 92| CD

12/1

Veteran who snapped a losing run in good style at Newcastle (23f) in January prior to a good second over C&D last month. Shaped as if still in good form behind a pair of unexposed sorts at first-named venue latest but another with work to do from out of the weights.

Form: 462123

Similar Story^p,t⁴¹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: P W Wadge| T: W Coltherd| OR: 91| D

66/1

Made a winning chasing debut at Kelso in October 2024 and placed on 3 occasions thereafter that season. However, has proved to be a disappointment this campaign, pulled up on latest outing at Catterick (25f). Hard to warm to from long way out of weights.

Forecasts

Chasingouttheblues (10/3), Paddy O'Mahler (7/2), President Scottie (11/2), Hudson De Grugy (11/2), Fierce Warrior (8/1), Blakey Boy (8/1), Uptown Harry (12/1), Inis Oirr (12/1), Red Delta (12/1), Swallows Song (14/1), Forged Well (16/1), Upfordebate (18/1), No Regrets (40/1), Similar Story (66/1)

CHASINGOUTTHEBLUES and Paddy O'Mahler confirmed themselves as a pair of young staying chasers to keep on side when finishing 1-2 in a tight finish at Catterick last month. The former shades preference to confirm those placings from a 2 lb higher mark with the return to this stiffer track likely to see him in an even better light. Fierce Warrior back from a break in refitted cheekpieces and C&D winner Hudson de Grugy are others in the mix.
