Comfortable winner of 18.5f course handicap in December but has failed to build on that in 3 subsequent starts. However, he's one to look out for now attentions are turned to the larger obstacles (stable has fine record with chasing debutants).
Handled the atrocious conditions better than the rest when off the mark at the third attempt in this sphere over C&D in December but failed to progress bidding to defy a 7 lb rise in the weights when fourth of 7 at Wincanton since. First-time tongue tie applied.
C&D winner last season and has made the frame in 3 of 4 starts this campaign, probably racing a touch closer to the pace than ideal when third of 9 at Wincanton last month.
Runner-up twice at Taunton this winter but now 0-10 in this sphere and the suspicion is he might be vulnerable for the win again. Drops back in trip.
Best effort for some time when runner-up at Windsor on return to action on New Year's Day. Predictably not in the same mood at Huntingdon 3 weeks later and he's not one to trust.
Gained his breakthrough success with a career best over C&D last April. Tends to take a run or 2 to get up to speed and whilst his latest C&D non-completion was disappointing, a better showing could be on the cards returned to a sounder surface (finished runner-up in this last year).
More miss than hit in handicap hurdles but consequently slid in the weights and ran well despite a less-than-fluent round of jumping on his first start in a handicap chase when runner-up at Taunton last month. Laboured effort at Ffos Las since and a tongue tie is reapplied.
Hard to catch right but returned to form despite finishing a place worse than in the corresponding race in 2025 when third of 10 at Hereford last month.
Now 18 runs since his last win in 2024 and arrives here out of form.
Dual winner over fences last season, including at this venue. Rounded his campaign off with a good second at Fontwell last March and will probably need this judged on previous reappearance efforts.
Has yet to achieve anything, his latest effort coming after a 20-month absence. Makes chase debut.

Forecasts
Zainy Champ (4/1), Saint Cyr De Pail (4/1), Rangatira Jack (11/2), Bertie Wooster (6/1), Storming Nelson (15/2), Flash Gorcombe (15/2), Valirann Gold (9/1), Kingcormac (11/1), Wellwillya (14/1), Limetree Boy (40/1), Brucie Bonus (250/1)
Cases can be made for several, but it could be worth taking a chance on ZAINY CHAMP, who failed to kick on after his course success in December but could well get back on track now switched to the larger obstacles (yard have fine record with chasing debutants). Saint Cyr de Pail has also won here this winter and he can provide most resistance, with Bertie Wooster and last year's runner-up Rangatira Jack rounding off the shortlist.
