Got off the mark over fences at Cartmel in May and doubled his tally in 12-runner handicap over 25f at Catterick (5/1) last month, benefiting from the step back up in trip. Not fully exposed as a stayer and looks to have been found a weak race bidding to follow up.

Generally consistent performer (won over 3m at Huntingdon in April 2024) but offered little after 16 months off at Catterick last month. Has his usual cheekpieces back on and should be sharper now.

Didn't show much in a handful of runs for Dan Skelton but was in fine form for his current yard through the summer/early autumn, winning twice over 3m at Hexham. Pulled up after 12 weeks off at Catterick over Christmas so will need to bounce back.

Point/hurdles winner who was placed in a couple of chases for James Ewart but there have been few positives to take from his efforts for present connections. Has plummeted down the weights, though, and Brian Hughes taking over from a 7-lb claimer does catch the eye.

Has shown precious little since his narrow breakthrough success in a 23f handicap chase at Newcastle in November 2023.

Forecasts

Defence Witness (1/1), Community Rebel (5/2), Getaway Glory (9/2), Ballydangan (12/1), Goodoldbill (14/1)

Verdict

DEFENCE WITNESS looks to have been found a weak race to follow up last month's Catterick success. Getaway Glory was tailed off in that same race, but he was returning from a lengthy absence so could give the selection something to think about in reapplied headgear.
