Multiple course scorer, including 3¼m handicap last season. At the veteran stage now but has shown enough in a hurdle/chase this season to think he could make an impact now back at his favoured Kelso.

Winner of 12-runner listed handicap chase at Punchestown Festival (24.5f) last spring. Started this campaign with 2 creditable efforts and looked unsuited by a drop back to 21.5f when below par at Market Rasen last month. This trip more suitable for him these days. Has had wind surgery.

Smart novice hurdler in 2022/23. Very lightly raced since but showed useful form when runner-up in maiden chases in December. Below that level when 22 lengths second at Ayr with cheekpieces added last time. The headgear is quickly discarded now moving into his first handicap over fences.

Four-time course scorer, including this race twice and a listed contest over this trip. Almost certainly not quite the force of old as a 12-y-o but his handicap mark reflects that and his Musselburgh reappearance 13 days ago was quite encouraging. Player if he can build on that.

Didn't need to improve much (if at all) to make a winning reappearance at Carlisle (3m) in October. Not in quite the same form when fourth over C&D next time and given a break since pulling up in the Rehearsal at Newcastle at the end of November. On the same mark as Carlisle.

Fairly useful winning hurdler in the mud who showed the benefit of his chasing debut when bagging a 5-runner C&D handicap (soft) in December. Creditable fourth of 5 in a Windsor novice handicap since and he brings unexposed potential up against older rivals. Wears first-time cheekpieces.

KING OF ANSWERS has fewer miles on the clock than the rest of these and gets the vote back at the scene of his win in December. Empire Steel, twice successful in this race, showed there's still plenty of life in his legs when fourth on his recent Musselburgh reappearance and gets the nod for the forecast spot ahead of fellow Kelso specialist Elvis Mail.
