A fair ex-French hurdles/chase winner who wasn't disgraced after 13 months off when fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Haydock (20f, good to soft) 23 days ago. In the mix with cheekpieces added.
Took this 12 months ago but not seen out since posting a good second of 5 in handicap chase at Market Rasen (19.2f, good to soft) last February. Still merits consideration though.
Lightly-raced hurdler who has made a bright start in this sphere, finding plenty to land 2m handicap at Lingfield in December. Got no further than the fifth at Huntingdon 18 days ago but form of his win has worked out really well so remains of interest.
Unreliable type overall but he bagged a second success this season in 4-runner handicap chase over C&D (good) 39 days ago. Needs to back it up now off a 3 lb higher mark.
Has taken well to fences this season and runner-up on his last 3 starts, latest in 2m4f handicap at Wetherby 45 days ago. That form has been franked so he's a likely player in his bid for a maiden victory.
Runner-up for the fifth time in his last six chase starts at Huntingdon (2m4f, soft) 49 days ago but he's still to win and an irresolute performer. Others remain more persuasive.
Dual hurdles winner for Iain Jardine in summer 2023 and belatedly opened her chase account at Newcastle for this yard last April. Largely disappointing since though and is also 3 lb out of the handicap here.

Forecasts
Imperial Bede (11/4), Athair Mor (11/4), A Great Excuse (4/1), Lunar Ocean (9/2), Onesoc (11/2), El Muchacho (18/1), Pure Surf (100/1)
A GREAT EXCUSE was an early faller at Huntingdon last time but had looked on the up when going in at Lingfield prior to that and is well worth another chance to bounce back here off a still handy-looking mark. Athatir Mor could emerge as the main danger with the form of his latest Wetherby second having been well advertised, although last year' s victor Onesoc and top-weight Imperial Bede also need considering.
- Athair Mor11/4
- Onesoc11/2
