Took a step back in the right direction following wind surgery when runner-up at Worcester (2½m, good to firm) last summer. Another creditable effort tried in cheekpieces (discarded here) at Uttoxeter when last seen but he's entitled to come on for the run following a 169-day absence.

Found improvement sent handicapping last term and has kicked on again this time round, opening his account on return at Stratford before following up in a first-time hood at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft). Has gone up a total of 14 lb for that brace but clearly on the up and another bold show likely.

Showed plenty of promise in maiden/novice hurdles and was in touch when falling at Wincanton on handicap debut last month. Remains one to be interested in and, if none the worse for that tumble, he could have a part to play.

Fair form in maidens on the Flat for Andrew Oliver in Ireland and much better effort over hurdles when runner-up on second start in this sphere at Plumpton last February. Failed to stay 20.5f there last time and may well be seen in a better light now handicapping back at 2m.

Opened hurdles account in 2m Ffos Las maiden in October and followed that with a good second on handicap debut at Ascot. Wasn't disgraced next time at Kempton where he could've done with jumping and settling better. Still early days for this 5-y-o and he's one to view in a positive light.

Hat-trick seeker Soldier's Leap is also high on the shortlist, while likely improvers Sea Warrior and Three Pikes also merits respect.
