Age: 8|  Weight: 12-0| J: Ellis Collier(5)| T: Evan Williams| OR:  109
Left first 2 efforts for this yard well behind when winning 19.5f Hereford handicap in November. In nothing like the same form at Chepstow next time, though, and looks vulnerable under top-weight.

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-13| J: Charlie Maggs(5)| T: David Dennis| OR:  108| CD
Landed back-to-back handicaps hurdles last spring, latterly over this C&D, and also placed twice during the summer. However, he hasn't fired since returning from a break in November, again failing to get competitive at Taunton on Thursday.

Took a step back in the right direction following wind surgery when runner-up at Worcester (2½m, good to firm) last summer. Another creditable effort tried in cheekpieces (discarded here) at Uttoxeter when last seen but he's entitled to come on for the run following a 169-day absence.

Soldier's Leaph,t44
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-13| J: Jack Andrews(3)| T: T Ellis| OR:  108| D
Found improvement sent handicapping last term and has kicked on again this time round, opening his account on return at Stratford before following up in a first-time hood at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft). Has gone up a total of 14 lb for that brace but clearly on the up and another bold show likely.

Sea Warrior25
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR:  107
Showed plenty of promise in maiden/novice hurdles and was in touch when falling at Wincanton on handicap debut last month. Remains one to be interested in and, if none the worse for that tumble, he could have a part to play.

Dr Waksman26
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: S Bowen| T: C Gordon| OR:  107
Fair form in maidens on the Flat for Andrew Oliver in Ireland and much better effort over hurdles when runner-up on second start in this sphere at Plumpton last February. Failed to stay 20.5f there last time and may well be seen in a better light now handicapping back at 2m.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sean Houlihan| T: R Stephens| OR:  107| D
Opened account in this sphere in 2m juvenile at Kempton in December 2024. Bettered previous handicap form by some way when a close third at Exeter in November but hasn't really gone on from that in 2 subsequent appearances. Likely to find a few too good once more.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-10| J: Freddie Keighley(7)| T: Henry Oliver| OR:  105| BF
Off the mark at third attempt in bumpers on debut for this yard at Newton Abbot in June. Since placed in a trio of maiden hurdles at up to 2½m and this 6-y-o is interesting dropped in trip for this handicap debut.

Won a conditions hurdle in France in 2023 but offered little starting out for new connections back from an absence of more than 2 years at Uttoxeter last month.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-9| J: James Turner(5)| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  104| BF| D
Opened hurdles account in 2m Ffos Las maiden in October and followed that with a good second on handicap debut at Ascot. Wasn't disgraced next time at Kempton where he could've done with jumping and settling better. Still early days for this 5-y-o and he's one to view in a positive light.

Best Womenh,t44
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: Jack Hogan| T: A M Hales| OR:  103
Fairly useful hurdler/chaser in France, bringing the curtain down on her time on that side of the Channel with a pair of claiming chase wins at the end of 2023. Wasn't disgraced back hurdling following a lengthy absence for new yard at Uttoxeter but significant step forward will be needed here.

Finished ahead of a couple of next time out winners when second at Perth and found a bit of improvement to get off the mark at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good) in May. It's been all downhill since, though, and others make more appeal.

Kelijoe29
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Charlie Hammond| T: S Edmunds| OR:  102
French bumper winner who got back on the up with the tongue strap swiftly dispensed with when keeping on gamely to land 9-runner handicap hurdle at Doncaster (19.4f, soft) last month. 7 lb rise tolerable and, with his mileage still very much on the low side, there could be better to come.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-6| J: Alex Chadwick(3)| T: James Owen| OR:  101| D
Runner-up at Ludlow and Sandown in handicap hurdles last February but more miss than hit since. Still, he has edged back to his last winning mark, so it would be unwise to write him off.

Run Away Joet121
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: Tom Broughton(5)| T: F O'Brien| OR:  100
Having been placed both starts in Irish points, was sent off favourite but only hinted at ability in an Ascot bumper on Rules debut in November. No great shakes in 3 runs over hurdles since and while he may well be better off now handicapping, others make more appeal. Tongue strap applied.

Showed a bit in her qualifying runs but pulled up on her Huntingdon handicap debut/reappearance in November. Needs to leave that well behind with a tongue tie added now.

Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: Caoilin Quinn| T: W Greatrex| OR:  108| D
Fair Flat winner was unable to justify strong support when third over 2m at Plumpton on handicap bow but improved to open his hurdles account with success in 13-runner novice handicap at Taunton (16.5f, good) last month. Still early days in this sphere and there should be more to come.

Forecasts

Soldier's Leap (9/2), Kelijoe (5/1), Premier (11/2), Sea Warrior (8/1), Dr Waksman (10/1), Knight Templar (10/1), Three Pikes (10/1), At The Oche (10/1), Run Away Joe (14/1), Ukantango (14/1), Best Women (20/1), Snapius (25/1), Time Interval (25/1), Maple (33/1), Oakley (33/1), Mexican Stan (33/1), Jiair Madrik (33/1), Tara Iti (50/1)

Verdict

Preference is for the 4-y-o PREMIER, who notched his first win in this sphere at Taunton and he probably has more to offer over hurdles. He certainly won't have things all his own way, with Kelijoe, a decisive winner at Doncaster last time, heading a long list of dangers. Hat-trick seeker Soldier's Leap is also high on the shortlist, while likely improvers Sea Warrior and Three Pikes also merits respect.
