William Hill Daily Bet Boosts Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 15:20 | Winning time: 4m 5.50s

Avalon Beach³²

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: William Maggs⁽⁵⁾| T: C Grant| OR: 100

7/1

Well held in a course bumper for Mark Walford but off the mark at the third attempt over hurdles at Sedgefield in November (16.8f). Shade too keen to last out over 19.9f back there a fortnight later so drop in trip looks a good move.

Form: 0/4515

Animato^p,t²¹

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: Charlie Maggs⁽⁵⁾| T: D McCain Jnr| OR: 100| D

22/1

Multiple winner on Flat (stays 17f) but hasn't bettered modest form in a quartet of hurdles outings in recent months, most recently fitted with blinkers. Handicap debut in a change of headgear.

Form: 4453

Mojo Ego^b⁴⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-12| J: Charlotte Jones| T: James Moffatt| OR: 98| D

9/2

Mark had been in freefall following a string of poor effort for current yard but found some form for the refitting of blinkers, finishing runner-up in back-to-back handicaps at Cartmel over the summer. Shaped as though still in good form in a better race at Aintree last month so needs considering.

Form: 7-08224

Yapper Hill¹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-8| J: Jonathon Bewley| T: G Bewley| OR: 94

22/1

Winless following 5 runs in maiden points and having failed to trouble the judge in his qualifying runs, he ran out on handicap debut.

Form: FF-385R

The Resdev Tyke²⁸

Age: 4| Weight: 11-7| J: Craig Nichol| T: M & D Easterby| OR: 93

5/2

Showed a bit in juvenile hurdles last season. Heavy defeat on reappearance/handicap debut in October but more like it when mid-field at Doncaster latest.

Form: 33-96

King Horse¹⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 11-5| J: Ryan Mania| T: Paul Robson| OR: 91

28/1

Didn't show a great deal in maiden points and stiff opening mark kept to 2m on what he achieved in his qualifying runs.

Form: P6-4606

Hourless²⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-3| J: Mr John Dixon⁽⁷⁾| T: J E Dixon| OR: 89| D

13/2

Fair juvenile hurdle winner for Alan King but has shaped with little promise in recent starts for current connections, mistakes creeping in over C&D 3 weeks ago.

Form: 3-64684

Genbu^t¹⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 10-10| J: Callum Bewley| T: S England| OR: 97| CD

14/1

Got off the mark in a C&D juvenile in October. Creditable fourth at Sedgefield last month before being found out in better races under his penalty. Handicap debut.

Form: 31P436

Toby Two Scoops^b²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 10-7| J: Alice Stevens⁽³⁾| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 94

9/2

Modest maiden on the Flat who has finished placed in a trio of small-field races over hurdles in recent months, improving his form slightly on each occasion. Latest effort at Sedgefield confirms his mark is very workable.

Form: 332

Genies Girl²⁸³

Age: 6| Weight: 10-5| J: Mr Paddy Barlow⁽⁷⁾| T: M Walford| OR: 77

8/1

Some promise in bumpers but little to get excited about over hurdles. Needs to settle down.

Form: 686964-

Gold Ring³¹²

Age: 8| Weight: 10-2| J: Peter Kavanagh| T: N Mechie| OR: 73| D

50/1

While since he's shown anything worthwhile in either code.

Form: 608/P0P-

Forecasts

The Resdev Tyke (5/2), Toby Two Scoops (9/2), Mojo Ego (9/2), Hourless (13/2), Avalon Beach (7/1), Genies Girl (8/1), Genbu (14/1), Animato (22/1), Yapper Hill (22/1), King Horse (28/1), Gold Ring (50/1)

TOBY TWO SCOOPS continued the good work when runner-up on handicap debut at Sedgefield 3 weeks ago and in receipt of his handy 3-y-o allowance, he makes plenty of appeal. Mojo Ego shaped well in a better race than this at Aintree so that brings him into the reckoning, with Avalon Beach also of interest back at 2m.
