Point winner who made a positive start to his chase career when second at Hexham (3m, heavy) in October. Ran poorly with cheekpieces added at Kelso 3 weeks later and they are quickly discarded. Sean Bowen rides.

Debut bumper winner in 2022 but yet to add to that success, despite attracting support on a few occasions. Strong in the market back from 16 months off at Kelso in October but weakened to finish seventh of in a handicap hurdle. Now returns to fences (twice third over them at the end of 2023).

No impact over hurdles last season but his chase debut third on last month's Kelso reappearance suggests he can races over fences. High on the shortlist with improvement likely.

Runner-up all 4 completed starts in Irish points but failed to better poor form in 4 outings under Rules last season, including a handicap chase. Still early days but would need to see market support to consider on this return from wind surgery (also tongue tied first time).

Runner-up on the first of 2 starts in bumpers but little form over hurdles so hard to fancy now going chasing (unplaced both completed starts in Irish points). Headgear on.

On a losing run but was runner-up twice in the spring and likely to have been placed but for a final-fence howler on C&D reappearance last month.

Modest maiden hurdler. Better effort switched to fences this term when fourth of 8 in 23.5f Kelso handicap 23 days ago but the reopposing Jirko was 7 lengths ahead in third.

Third in a handicap hurdle last winter. Brings an unexposed profile to this chase debut for a good stable. Interesting, particularly if the betting vibes are strong.

Didn't offer much in 3 qualifying runs over hurdles last winter but no surprise if this point winner fared better on chase/handicap debut with Brian Hughes riding.

Lightly raced maiden who posted his best effort when third in 2½m Hexham handicap hurdle on reappearance but a return to 3m seemed to stretch his stamina in another hurdle here since. Chase debut.

Won sole start in Irish points but offered nothing in a trio of novice hurdles and pulled up on last month's chase/handicap debut at Kelso.

Forecasts

Wainwright (11/4), Swallows Song (3/1), Didntgotwenty (9/2), Jirko (5/1), Wholly Boley (12/1), Joie More (12/1), Lewa House (14/1), Red Ned (20/1), Worth The Walk (22/1), Knightphase (28/1), Tory Hill (28/1)

Verdict

JIRKO showed promise when third on his Kelso chase debut and might prove the answer to this opener. Wainwright and Worth The Walk both bring potential to their chase debuts after breaks, while Wholly Boley disappointed at Kelso last time but was a good second at Hexham prior to that and Sean Bowen takes the reins.
