5/2
Well-related sort who confirmed promise of his debut effort 11 months earlier when successful in 5-runner Hexham bumper (16.2f) on debut for this yard 6 weeks ago, showing more speed than might be expected from his pedigree. Should be in the mix again under a penalty.

Tirwanako gelding who went with no encouragement when last of 6 in bumper at Newcastle (16.9f, good, 66/1) on NH debut 22 days ago.

Getaway gelding who offered something to work on when fifth on debut in a Worcester bumper 5 months ago (fifth past the post but subsequently disqualified with rider having weighed in light). Starts out for new yard now and he's probably best watched.

Cloudings gelding who showed ability when fifth of 9 in bumper at Sedgefield (16.8f, good to firm) on NH debut 52 days ago, running green. Likely one for later on.

Shirocco gelding who has run to a modest level in pair of starts 10 months apart, fading out of things when sixth of 9 in bumper (33/1) at Sedgefield (16.8f, good to firm) 52 days ago. Should be sharper with that under his belt but progress will be required if he's to feature.

Forever Now gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Ryedale Racer and fair hurdler Lady Babs, stays 2½m. Market should prove best guide.

€9,500 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. 9/1, low-key start when eighth of 11 in bumper at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) 14 days ago, effort around 3f out but making little impression. Passed over on the back of that.

£4,500 3-y-o, Ice Breeze gelding. Well supported but seemed held back by inexperience when sixth of 8 in bumper at Carlisle (17.2f, good to firm) on NH debut 36 days ago, spared a hard race once his chance had gone. Represents a stable firmly amongst the winners and likely capable of better.

Muhtathir gelding. Half-brother to French hurdler Nest Love. Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points (Oct 12) and he's very much one to note on bumper debut for yard boasting a 40% strike rate with their runners in this code so far this season.

€1,000 3-y-o, Iffraaj gelding. Dam 1m winner who stayed 1½m. Stable 5-74 with their bumper runners in last 5 seasons and probably best watched.

Diamond Boy half-brother to 3 winners, notably Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Put The Kettle On. Promising second in a Hexham bumper on debut in the spring and he looks one of the likelier types back from 8 months off.

Cloudings filly. Sister to modest hurdler Top Cloud. Sent off at 400/1 and lost touch before straight when tailed-off last of 12 in bumper at Carlisle (17f, soft) on NH debut 11 days ago. Hard to make a case for on the back of that.

Forecasts

Nimba (5/4), Trigg (2/1), Tony Joe (5/2), Tea Boy (9/2), Laristote (8/1), Church Lane Lad (11/1), Forever Louie (14/1), Icy Glen (16/1), Dermo's Boy (22/1), Static Charm (33/1), Bogha Baiste (66/1), Gogether Josepi (66/1), Blazing Echo (200/1), Whispering Cloud (300/1)

Verdict

TRIGG made a winning start in the style of one with a good deal more to offer at Worcester in September, deserving of extra credit in coming from much further back than the other principals. He makes plenty of appeal in his follow-up bid with his rider's claim off-setting his penalty. Tea Boy was runner-up at Hexham back in the spring and is feared on return, as is point winner Nimba for the Mickey Bowen stable. Another last-time-out winner, Tony Joe completes the shortlist.
