11/4, improved on recent efforts to win 12-runner handicap at this course (7.2f) last December, just holding on. Subsequent absence is naturally a concern, but step back up in trip won't hurt and he remains on a handy mark, so there are reasons to be optimistic. Yard also runs Moon Over The Sea.

Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 52 days ago, suited by increase in trip. Likely to have a say if proving equally effective on this surface.

Tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable second of 9 in handicap (2/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 8 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Cheekpieces now added, too, and he's one to consider.

Respectable seventh of 13 in handicap (14/1) at this C&D 10 days ago and while his record now stands at 0-10, he should have a race in him off this sort of mark.

Verdict

Having shaped well on debut for the Charlie Clover yard at Bath recently, GLADIADORA is appealing now switched to the all-weather off an attractive mark. Strobelight found just one too good in a first-time tongue strap at Lingfield last week and, if the addition of another new aid (cheekpieces now combined with the tongue strap) has the desired effect, he could have a big say. Mr Nugget also enters calculations, while Verona Star will be a threat if ready to roll following an 11-month absence.
