Course winner. 13/2, first run since leaving Charlie Fellowes when creditable 1¾ lengths third of 12 to Witch Hunter in handicap at Newcastle (7f) 36 days ago. That was his first outing for over a year so he's entitled to come on for it. Regular cheekpieces are also back on.

Promising when notching pair of 7f wins at 2. No impact in the Greenham and a Newmarket listed event in the spring but still early days and has had gelding and wind operations since. It'll be very interesting to see what the betting makes of him.

C&D winner in August. Also second over C&D next time and latest 2½ lengths sixth of 12 to Witch Hunter in handicap at Newcastle (7f) was also creditable. Does need a bit more from this mark, though.

Course winner. Returned with a fine effort when third of 15 in the Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood. Faded when sent off favourite for the Cambridgeshire over 9f at Newmarket since and possible this 2f drop in trip may suit. Draw not ideal, though.

Went close to landing a second successive Bunbury Cup at Newmarket in July but has struggled for consistency since. Others more persuasive.

Useful effort when taking his career record to 2-3 in C&D novice on reappearance in August. Lacks experience for a race of this nature but an opening mark in the high 80s could prove lenient.

Forecasts

Sarab Star (2/1), Back In Black (10/3), Real Gain (9/2), Superposition (13/2), Chancellor (7/1), Witch Hunter (16/1), The Wizard Of Eye (18/1), Aalto (22/1), Grand Traverse (25/1), Streets Of Gold (28/1), Kingdom Come (40/1), Dutch Kingdom (100/1)

Verdict

A useful handicap. Jack Channon went to 200,000 gns to keep SARAB STAR in his yard at last week's horses in training sale and this promising colt can provide him with an immediate return on his investment. Fellow 3-y-o Back In Black is second choice ahead of The Wizard of Eye.
