Got the better of an argument with Ancient Wisdom (3 lb pull) in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown in April. Back on the scoresheet in a Goodwood Group 3 on penultimate start, but he was below par in Ireland last time and looks vulnerable under a penalty here.
Gelded after struggling in the Group 1 Coronation Cup at Epsom in June and back on track when just touched off in a Goodwood listed race (1¼m, good) last month. This step back up in trip will help and he's high on the shortlist.
Admirable performer who beat Military Academy and Mount Atlas, both of whom renew rivalry here, at Goodwood and Chester respectively on first 2 starts of this season. Shade below par in the Cumberland Lodge at Ascot 3 weeks ago, but this reliable type is a strong candidate nonetheless.
Won 3 of 4 starts last year, including a listed event at Kempton. Went down fighting when beaten a neck by Hamish at Goodwood in June, but it's been a struggle since and hopes now pinned on new headgear (first-time blinkers) sparking a return to form.
Shaped well when fifth in 18-runner Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot before opening account for the season back at Ascot the following month. Did nothing wrong when ½-length second to Hamish at Chester (12.3f, good) last time, but now 3 lb worse off with that rival.
Sea The Stars colt who sprung a 40/1 surprise in the Blue Riband Trial at Epsom in April. Best effort since when a close third in a French listed race last month and wouldn't be without an each-way chance if backing that up here.
Ended promising 2-y-o campaign with a win in the Group 3 Zetland at Newmarket (1¼m, good to soft) in October. Didn't shape at all badly on belated reappearance at Goodwood last month and, with improvement likely with that run under his belt and now upped in trip, he's one to consider.
Progressive filly who was successful twice at around 11f at Kempton and Yarmouth prior to a near-miss in a Class 2 Newmarket handicap (1½m, good). Remains open to improvement, but probably biting off more than she can chew at this level.
Ploughed through the mud to land a Nottingham maiden on sole 2-y-o start and hasn't done much wrong in listed/Group company this season, most recently finishing a close third in Princess Royal Stakes at Newmarket. Not entirely dismissed, but yard saddles a stronger candidate in Starzintheireyes.

Forecasts
Ancient Wisdom (3/1), Al Aasy (3/1), Hamish (7/2), Starzintheireyes (11/2), Mount Atlas (8/1), Revoir (14/1), Military Academy (20/1), Sea Scout (22/1), Miss Wong (33/1)
This looks like a good opportunity for ANCIENT WISDOM, who put in a good shift when going close back from a break over 1¼m at Goodwood and both the return to this trip and a more galloping track will play to his strengths. Starzintheireyes was back in seventh in the same listed contest, but he's entitled to come on for that (first run for a year) and he promises to be suited by this stiffer test. Evergreen 9-y-o Hamish is also accorded respect.
