Proved consistent over hurdles in Ireland for Michael G. Kennedy but looked a different model on debut for James Owen when easily winning a 2m maiden hurdle at this track last month. Back up in trip on handicap debut and further improvement likely given his yard's outstanding CV with similar types.

Off the mark in a 16-runner novice hurdle at Killarney (17f, good) on final outing for P. M. J. Doyle in May and having changed hands for £42,000, disappointed under a penalty in a 2m novice here on stable debut. Needs to improve but stepping back up in trip should suit on handicap bow.

Progressive over fences for his new yard, making 3-3 in a handicap at Uttoxeter (20f, good) in June. Justified substantial support to easily land the 4-timer in a C&D novice the following month and has likely been laid out for this. Makes plenty of appeal in a race that should be run to suit.

Consistent hurdler (barring a forgivable effort on heavy ground) and ran just about his best race when third behind a pair of interesting types in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago. Wears-first time hood/tongue strap and will be suited by the likely strong pace. Solid each-way prospects.

Fairly useful on Flat and didn't need to improve to get off the mark over 2m here in May. Travelled well (on the back of another breathing operation) but proved the weakest of the market principals in the finish when fourth behind Service Minimum over C&D last time. Needs more to reverse the form.

Won with plenty in hand to get off the mark in a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Southwell and backed that up on second start in tongue strap (retained) when winning a staying handicap on the Flat in July. Clearly in fine heart and there could well be more to come on first start in a handicap hurdle.

Solid form in bumpers and a facile winner on hurdle debut. Form of her Uttoxeter second is working out well and she impressed with a cosy victory in a C&D novice last month, having travelled strongly. Should progress again in handicaps and her excellent yard know how to land a valuable pot.

Fairly useful staying handicapper on Flat and has progressed since winning on hurdles debut at Huntingdon in May, notching his second hurdles success when narrowly defeating Don Virginia at Stratford (22f) last month. No surprise to see him take another step forward on handicap debut.

Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland and clearly bumped into one when 9½ lengths behind Dream Diamond on first start for Alastair Ralph, considerately handled once held. Steps back up in trip but no easy task to reverse that form.

Got off the mark at the fourth time of asking over hurdles when winning a 2m novice hurdle at this track 26 days ago, showing a good attitude having dictated the pace. Tougher task here but plenty of stamina in his pedigree and should go on progressing now tackling handicaps over a longer trip.

Typically found improvement since joining James Owen, winning twice. 8 lengths third behind Stumps or Slips on latest hurdle start and maintained her run of consecutive placed finishes back over fences at Cartmel last month. In fine heart but others look to have more in hand.

Off the mark in good style at Southwell in June and has continued in good heart. Made the running and rallied to only be beaten a nose by Knights Affair at Stratford (22f) last month and he should remain competitive back in a handicap in first-time cheekpieces.

Bumper winner opened his hurdles account at at Warwick (2m, good) in June. Third behind Intosomethinggood/Knights Affair here subsequently and was better than the beaten distance at Stratford last time. Longer trip/headgear may bring about some improvement now handicapping but this is deep race.

Runner-up behind Service Minimum in a strong novice here last month, for all he was flattered by the beaten distance. Underperformed in a Bangor novice won by Intosomethinggood earlier this month and he again looks vulnerable to improvers.

Fairly useful 4-time Flat winner (stays 1½m) for Andrew Oliver in Ireland. Hasn't looked a natural over hurdles but best effort came when second here in a 2m novice back in June. Reasons for optimism over a longer trip on handicap debut but will need to sharpen up his jumping in this company.

Forecasts

Dream Diamond (9/4), Stumps Or Slips (9/2), Don Virginia (5/1), Tamarind Bay (15/2), Service Minimum (17/2), Knights Affair (11/1), High Fibre (14/1), Shadows In The Sky (14/1), Intosomethinggood (14/1), Mount Anglesby (18/1), Squire Danagher (18/1), Washpool (25/1), Banderas (28/1), Jefe Triunfo (40/1), Old Bridge (40/1), Romany Brown (66/1)

Verdict

Dan Skelton certainly knows what it takes to land a valuable pot and SERVICE MINIMUM impressed when landing a C&D novice hurdle under a confident ride last month. She's fancied to make a winning start in handicaps, while Stumps Or Slips will have been earmarked for this race following a comfortable C&D win in June and should be suited by the likely strong pace. Dream Diamond has to be feared given James Owen's record with similar types, with Banderas another improver to note.
