Runner-up here in April. Strong form (race has produced multiple winners) when second at Southwell 48 days ago. Struggled up in class when ninth of 13 in 7f handicap at Southwell 3 weeks ago but remains one to be interested back down in grade from below his last successful mark.

Without a win in 8 starts since landing novice double for previous yard last October. Ran to similar level as on stable debut when 4th of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (AW) over 7f (12/1) 23 days ago. Will need to build on that and prove her stamina now upped in trip.

Little form before winning a 12-runner handicap at Windsor (15/2) 17 days ago when fitted with first-time blinkers, wandering before asserting late. Looked quirky that day but is bred to keep on improving if headgear can keep him in check.

Ran creditably in maiden/novice races at Southwell early 2025 but below form in handicaps, finishing sixth of 13 in 7f AW handicap at Newcastle (4/1) 20 days ago stepping up on previous run but never looking like justifying support. Interesting to see if money comes again on just second turf start.

C&D winner has placed in 5 starts since June. Again awkwardly away when 3rd at Wolverhampton (9/2) 12 days ago but arrives in good heart and is one to consider given previous course form.

Showed fair form when 4th in two maiden races but proved disappointing when 6th of 12 at Chelmsford (15/2) 21 days ago with tongue strap (now removed). Worth a check to see if the market expects him to improve now handicapping back on turf.

Dual course winner arrives better than ever having won his last two starts at Newmarket over 8f, most recently finishing first of 8 in handicap (2/1) 48 days ago when making all before going clear 1f out. Commands respect in current mood given previous course form.

Forecasts

Lemurian (5/2), Dashing Donkey (5/2), Noble Guest (10/3), Dream Pirate (4/1), Maid In Chelsea (9/1), Berry Clever (11/1), Grey Soul (12/1), Lordsbridge Grey (16/1), Society Lion (16/1), Joseph (18/1), Kitaro Kich (20/1)

Verdict

A tricky puzzle. BERRY CLEVER has gone close over this C&D a couple of times and the form of his second at Southwell last month could hardly have worked out better. He's taken to bounce back returned to a more realistic grade, while Dream Pirate got back on track last time and is feared most having ran well here previously. Society Lion capitalised on a falling mark here last season and looks an interesting contender for his in-form yard now dropped markedly in grade following a break.
