2024 Summer Hurdle winner didn't need to be at his best to notch another Market Rasen success in a 4-runner handicap in June. Not in the same form back in blinkers when midfield in the 2025 Summer Hurdle. Could be more competitive in a change of headgear but doesn't have much in hand from this mark.

Better than ever for James Owen at the back end of last season, culminating in comfortable victory in a 2m claiming hurdle at Huntingdon. Shaped encouragingly when third at Uttoxeter on reappearance and no surprise to seem him give another good account (yard also saddle Prince Quatro).

Dual winner for P.J. Rothwell but has typically improved under the care of James Owen, impressing with his strength at the finish when recording a second success of the season at Market Rasen (16.6f, soft). All four victories have come with give in the ground but further improvement not ruled out.

Off the mark in a strong seller over C&D in May and has been transformed by new connections, travelled well and much improved to beat Saligo Bay over C&D last month under a good ride from this conditional jockey. Merits plenty of respect in bid to make it 4 wins from last 5 starts.

Fairly useful at his best and capitalised on freefalling mark on second start in headgear when making-all under an enterprising Brian Hughes ride at Worcester last month. Still on a fair mark on the best of his form but likely to face more competition for the lead here.

Proved better than ever when an unfortunate second to Saligo Bay over C&D (rider mistook position of winning post) but finished further behind that rival on less testing ground when third here last month in the race won by Winds of Winters. Should give his running once again.

Well handicapped on best form and step in the right direction when runner-up at Hexham (20.1f) in May. Wasn't seen to best effect over that C&D next time but had few excuses when never threatening over 22f here last month. Mark continues to slide but needs things to fall right back down in trip.

In fine heart, capitalising on a much-reduced mark back over hurdles, landing a C&D handicap by a neck from Book of Secrets. Confirmed that form when runner-up behind Winds of Winter here (now 4 lb better off with that rival) last month. Has ran well on the flat since and should be in the mix again.

Fairly useful Flat winner who has a fine record here, solid effort when third behind Saligo Bay in June (form has proved strong) and was much improved when winning over C&D in testing conditions last month. Uncomplicated sort is at least as effective on good ground and should go well again.

Forecasts

Prince Quattro (10/3), Winds Of Winter (4/1), Book of Secrets (9/2), Saligo Bay (6/1), Lightening Company (13/2), Forget The Way (7/1), Well Educated (16/1), Castel Gandolfo (16/1), Young Merlin (16/1), Grey Skies (22/1)

Verdict

LIGHTENING COMPANY found a chunk of improvement to land a second C&D success last month and this uncomplicated sort should have no problem with quicker conditions. He can make it back-to-back victories in this race for his trainer/jockey, with thriving Winds of Winter feared most following her strong-travelling success over C&D last time. Saligo Bay chased home Winds of Winter that day but is now 4 lb 'better off' and showed himself still in good form on the Flat earlier this month.
