Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 5 in novice at Newcastle (8f, 5/6) in March, folding tamely. Bit to prove on the back of that, but it's too soon to forget the promise he showed when third on debut last spring.

€280,000 yearling, Acclamation gelding. Brother to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Orne. Dam, 6f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Space Traveller. Yard's newcomers typically come on for a run, but he's one to note in the betting all the same.

160,000 gns yearling, Australia gelding. Brother to smart 1m-1¼m winner Patrick Sarsfield and winner up to 1½m Oz Legend and closely related to 1½m winner Tooreen Katie. Dam maiden. Positive jockey booking and it'll be interesting to see which way he goes in the betting.

€90,000 yearling, Invincible Spirit gelding. Half-brother to 6f winner Stalingrad and winner up to 9f Modesty. Another who hails from a yard whose newcomers generally need a run or two, but it would nevertheless be worth noting if the market speaks in his favour.

Promising individual. 10/1, second of 10 in novice at Southwell (8.1f) on debut, slowly away. Off 101 days. Should have more to offer with that experience to draw upon and he's a strong candidate.

Once-raced maiden. 18/1, ninth of 11 in maiden at this course (12f) on debut. Off 154 days. Significantly down in trip and it's probably best to look elsewhere this time.

Once-raced maiden. 33/1, third of 9 in novice at Southwell (8.1f) on debut 50 days ago. Gelded since and while he's likely to be well-served by a stiffer test before long, he should make his presence felt.

9/2
Highly promising type. Last of 6 in novice at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm, 7/4) on debut 79 days ago. Clearly well-regarded and, from a good middle-distance family, this filly can be expected to leave that initial run a long way behind.

Promising individual. Second of 8 in maiden (13/8) at Thirsk (7f, good) 22 days ago. Remains open to improvement and it will be no surprise whatsoever if this filly is again in the thick of things.

Forecasts

Grizedale (4/6), Earl Of Rochester (11/4), Satavia (9/2), Tardaff (20/1), Sir Hannibal (22/1), Alcarath (33/1), Bowling Shane (40/1), Glasgow Warrior (40/1), Roman Landings (200/1)

Verdict

Having produced a promising first effort when going close at Southwell in April, GRIZEDALE could be the answer. That said, there are dangers aplenty, with Satavia likely to leave her low-key Windsor debut well behind and both Tardaff and Sir Hannibal (in order of preference) are also shortlisted. The three newcomers all need a market check and if the 4-y-o Earl of Rochester is able to get back on track he will also be a threat.
