Progressive last term, winning John Smith's Cup before fine second in a Glorious Goodwood handicap. Also second in listed company final start of 2024 and, having stepped up on his reappearance with an eye-catching fourth in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot (1¼m, good to firm), he's high on the list.

Successful sole 2-y-o start and made breakthrough at listed level at Goodwood (11.2f, good to firm) last spring. Solid second in the Festival Stakes back at that Sussex venue in May, but his efforts either side of that have not been so good.

Low-mileage 6-y-o who landed a Sandown Group 3 on second start of a truncated 2024 campaign. Too free when a below-par fourth on return in a Kempton listed race, but entitled to come on for that and will be a danger to all if handling conditions (effective on good ground but unraced on faster).

Won twice in Meydan early last year and acquitted himself well in defeat in Group company during the summer, not least when second in the Diomed at Epsom. Reappearance fourth at Ascot was encouraging, but failed to build on that when having another crack at the Diomed last month. Debut for new yard.

Went close in a couple of French Group 1s following big-priced success in last year's Coventry at Royal Ascot. Fourth to top 3-y-o miler Field of Gold in Irish 2000 Guineas and the St James's Palace the last twice and will be a serious threat if his stamina holds out now upped in trip.

Verdict

Daylight appeared all too late for ENFJAAR in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot where he encountered serious traffic problems around two furlongs out. He looks ready to strike on that evidence and gets the nod ahead of Ancient Wisdom, who will appreciate this drop back in class having understandably struggled in the Coronation Cup last month. The sole 3-y-o in the line-up, Rashabar, will have every chance if his stamina passes the test, while Okeechobee also merits respect.
