Fairly useful handicapper on Flat and off mark over hurdles at second attempt (Sedgefield, 19.9f, good) but below that form when third over same C&D last month, stamina likely stretched on softer ground. Few miles on the clock in this sphere and respected on handicap debut with yard among winners.

Made all on handicap debut at Fakenham in October and doubled her tally over hurdles when victorious at the same venue 29 days ago, held up and found plenty for pressure to deny a well-backed favourite. No surprise to see a return to more positive tactics today and holds a good chance.

Twice a winner for Ian Patrick Donoghue (sole hurdles win came over 19.8f at Downpatrick) but went off the boil in final two starts of last year, latest when down the field in a chase on Boxing Day. Starts life over the smaller obstacles for new yard but has a bit to find off current handicap mark.

All four hurdle wins have been at Market Rasen including latest victory in a 10-runner handicap hurdle 13 days ago. Quick turnaround should be no issue but needs to prove she can follow up that performance away from her favourite track.

3/1
Dual hurdles winner when campaigned in Ireland (at up to 18f) and ran to a fairly consistent level for this yard last season, without managing to finish in the places. Should strip fitter for reappearance run last month and not ruled out from falling handicap mark.

Dual winner for John Joseph Hanlon (latest victory at Bangor over 16.6f in December 2023). Unable to match that form since and although probably needed the run when down the field in a Sedgefield handicap on first run for current yard, she needs a significant step forward from that effort.

Showed little in maiden/novice hurdles but showed a bit more promise on handicap debut, shaping better than her finishing position (seventh of 12) when not ideally placed in a slowly-run affair. However, needs to improve for this slightly longer trip if she's to trouble the best of these.

Forecasts

Mavis Pike (11/4), Kellie's Dream (3/1), Lady Babs (9/2), Reel Rosie (11/2), Breadalbane Lass (6/1), O'Faolains Glory (9/1), Mullins Cross (25/1)

Verdict

Not the strongest of contests and MAVIS PIKE looks the most solid option, having knuckled down to defeat a well-fancied rival on her latest outing. She can follow up that victory at the expense of handicap debutante Reel Rosie, whose yard is in great form. Lady Babs may have to settle for minor honours away from Market Rasen.
