Cheekpieces on for 1st time, returned to best when fourth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 26 days ago, running on after forced wide early in straight. Should be bang there.

Landed a valuable AW handicap on Final's Day at Newcastle in March. Hard to knock his consistency in host of valuable turf handicaps subsequently and he had a hopeless task from position when tenth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (1m) back in September.

Runner-up on penultimate outing at Newmarket but ran poorly back on all-weather when twelfth of 13 in handicap (11/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 7 weeks ago. Freshened up since and needs to leave that effort well behind.

Latest win at Leicester in October. 15/2, wasted no time getting back to form when third of 14 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 5 days ago, nearest finish. Has the odd quirk or 2 but expected to be bang there.

Course winner. First run since leaving Simon & Ed Crisford (15,000 gns) when last of 12 in handicap (80/1) at Southwell (8.1f) just over 5 weeks ago. Stiff task in this company.

Forecasts

Talis Evolvere (2/1), Alzahir (5/2), Brewing (5/2), How Impressive (8/1), Street Kid (12/1), Court Of Session (80/1)

Verdict

ALZAHIR wasted no time getting back to form when finishing a staying-on third at Southwell last Saturday so, provided this doesn't come too soon, Jennie Candlish's 4-y-o gets the nod to land the feature contest. Brewing returned to his best sporting first-time cheekpieces last month, so he may emerge as the main danger, with Talis Evolvere completing the shortlist returning from over 3 months off the track.
