ColourFence Newport Low Maintenance Fencing Handicap Chase

Off time: 15:11 | Winning time: 5m 0.67s

Do Your Job^t¹⁹⁵

Age: 10| Weight: 12-0| J: Lily Pinchin| T: C E Longsdon| OR: 130| D

33/1

Grade 2 winner as a novice. Low-key start to last season but back on scoresheet at Wetherby (19.4f, heavy) on Boxing Day. However, just the one decent effort from 3 starts for this yard since and opposable on balance.

Eaton Collina²⁴³

Age: 9| Weight: 11-11| J: R Patrick| T: Kerry Lee| OR: 127| CD

20/1

Likeable sort who ran out a ready winner at Wetherby (19.4f) in February and battled well to edge a tight finish from 7 lb higher mark back at that venue later that month. Handicapper applies a little more pressure but not discounted in hat-trick bid on return.

Form: 2/P3511-

Hititi^p1,t²²⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-11| J: Harry Kimber| T: R Walford| OR: 127

9/1

Likeable sort who took a step forward when last seen over fences 22 months ago and open to significant improvement back in this sphere given his subsequent exploits over hurdles. Interesting in first-time headgear.

Form: 1/42220-

Can You Call^t²³⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 11-9| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR: 125| DWS

15/2

Hurdles/chase scorer who produced 3 good placed efforts on 3 of his 4 starts last term, including when second off this mark in this race on return. Can go well again.

Form: 94/2332-

Classic King¹¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: Miss E C Lavelle| OR: 125

16/1

Made a winning start over hurdles at Wincanton (15.2f) on return last season and even better form when runner-up next 4 of 5 starts. Not the most fluent of jumpers over hurdles so no surprise he failed to get round at Uttoxeter on chase bow.

Form: 222F2-U

Nocte Volatus^t¹⁷⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 11-8| J: Ned Fox⁽⁵⁾| T: T Lacey| OR: 124| D

25/1

Took advantage of a drop in the weights and the additional benefit of a useful 7 lb claimer to score for the first time in over 2 years at Uttoxeter in May. Warrants respect but will find this harder.

Form: 23346-1

Stormy Flight^p¹⁷⁸

Age: 10| Weight: 11-8| J: Lorcan Williams| T: J Scott| OR: 124| D

40/1

Gradually worked his way back to form last season, scoring twice at Exeter. Shaped as if still in form until succumbing to a rare jumping lapse at Uttoxeter next time. May need this after 6 months off.

Form: 36131-F

Range²²⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-7| J: Dylan Johnston⁽³⁾| T: S Thomas| OR: 123| BF| CD

5/2

Fair form in bumpers last season and got off the mark in 2m3f maiden hurdle here in December. Failed to advance his form in 2 starts since but sent chasing after break for yard typically forward this autumn.

Form: 35/2154-

Opening Bid^p¹⁹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-6| J: Bryan Carver| T: C J Down| OR: 122| D

20/1

Taken well to cheekpieces of late, justifying good support in 5-runner handicap at Exeter 19 days ago, well on top finish. Not taken lightly.

Form: 4P5351

Nothin To Ask^t¹²¹

Age: 9| Weight: 11-6| J: Liam Harrison| T: F O'Brien| OR: 122| CD

22/1

Returned to form when close second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, good) in April. Never really involved next 2 starts but back over fences now and he did win this race on his comeback 2 years ago.

Form: 9P52-68

Thor De Cerisy^p,t²¹³

Age: 10| Weight: 11-5| J: R P McLernon| T: N P Mulholland| OR: 121| CD

28/1

Has improved with each run for current yard and gained compensation for a late fall at Uttoxeter in January when bolting up over C&D in February. Left with a simple task when following up there following month but his weak-finishing ways resurfaced in a more demanding race at Haydock since.

Form: 45F11P-

Sageburg County^t¹⁵⁶

Age: 7| Weight: 11-5| J: Paul O'Brien| T: W Greatrex| OR: 121| CD

9/1

Three-time winner over fences last season, including over this C&D in April. Ran poorly at Uttoxeter following month but he's prone to the odd stinker so expected to bounce back.

Form: 18231-5

Gyenyame¹⁹⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR: 118

17/2

Fairly useful Flat/hurdles winner who posted some good efforts in defeat last season. Has the size to make a chaser but likely to be better for the run.

Form: 224350-

Theformismighty^t¹⁹³

Age: 7| Weight: 11-2| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 118

4/1

Expensive point winner who got of the mark at the fourth attempt over hurdles when easily winning 6-runner maiden at Market Rasen (20.6f, soft) in March. Creditable fourth on handicap bow at Ayr following month and is an interesting chasing debutant.

Form: 1/53614-

Forecasts

Range (5/2), Theformismighty (4/1), Can You Call (15/2), Gyenyame (17/2), Hititi (9/1), Sageburg County (9/1), Classic King (16/1), Eaton Collina (20/1), Opening Bid (20/1), Nothin To Ask (22/1), Nocte Volatus (25/1), Thor De Cerisy (28/1), Do Your Job (33/1), Stormy Flight (40/1)

Plenty to consider but it could be worth chancing expensive point-winner THEFORMISMIGHTY, whose yard won this last year with a chasing debutant. Can You Call pulled clear of the rest when second in this 12 months ago and can go well again, while Hititi is potentially well handicapped back in this sphere given his exploits over hurdles.
