Placed in novice events. Made a very disappointing start to his nursery career at Chester in July but that was almost too bad to be true and no surprise were he to prove a different proposition 3 months on.

Tactical Plan¹⁵

Age: 2| Weight: 9-7| J: Jim Crowley| T: E A L Dunlop| OR: 76| D

10/3

Saw off Mayday Malone to gain a deserved first victory in maiden at Chester (7f, soft) last month and backed it up with a fine second in a heavy-ground nursery at Haydock. Should give another good account.

13/2

Won a 16-runner maiden at Chepstow (7f, good) in August but not in the same form when fifth of 7 in a heavy-ground nursery at Newmarket since. Likely to face testing ground again here.

Number⁵³

Age: 2| Weight: 9-1| J: Tom Marquand| T: J Butler| OR: 70

17/2

Fair maiden. Not beaten far when fourth of 5 on 6f Ascot nursery debut in July and this easier than the big-field York Ebor nursery he ran in last time. Tackles 7f for the first time.

Form: 35240

(6)

Emporess⁵

Age: 2| Weight: 9-0| J: Saffie Osborne| T: B R Millman| OR: 69| BF

In good form in deep ground this month, winning at Bath (5.7f) and second at Leicester (6f). Remains to be seen whether 7f suits her quite so well.

Forecasts

Mayday Malone (3/1), Tactical Plan (10/3), Megalithic (5/1), Louie The Legend (13/2), Emporess (7/1), Up The Pace (8/1), Number (17/2)

MAYDAY MALONE has the assistance of Oisin Murphy for this nursery debut and is taken to turn the tables on his Chester conqueror Tactical Plan. Magalithic could also have a say if the betting suggests he's expected to leave a disappointing nursery debut run behind after a break.
