Improved when landing back-to-back handicaps at Haydock/Nottingham for new yard in June before a good third at Doncaster (10.2f) on penultimate start. Not in same form when eighth in Ladies' Derby at Epsom (12f) but likely candidate to bounce back.

Ran well under today's rider when runner-up at Catterick (12f) in June but not been in same form on Flat/over hurdles in 2 subsequent outings. Losing run is mounting up and refitting of blinkers needs to have positive effect.

Had a very productive 2023 campaign, winning 4 times including this race from a 1 lb higher mark. Low-key efforts during the spring but more like it of late, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Wetherby (10f) 7 weeks ago. Worth a look with cheekpieces replacing visor.

Ungenuine type who comes here on a lengthy losing run and he has offered little in pair of hurdle outings this year. Passed over starting out for new stable.

Successful in this race 2 years ago and returned with creditable efforts at Musselburgh/Doncaster this spring. Seemingly not 100% when last of 13 to Lord Warburton in handicap at Pontefract (10f) 50 days ago but feasible to think he can bounce back.

Well placed to score twice in 5 starts this year, latterly at Pontefract (10f) in June. Continued good work when third of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (10.2f, good to soft) 24 days ago and he's an each-way player again.

Last of 11 in handicap at Leicester (11.8f, good, 18/1) 45 days ago, racing lazily and beaten 4f out. First-time blinkers need to have positive effect now (successful in first-time cheekpieces last year).

Steady improver since attentions switched to handicaps, gaining second career success in 6-runner handicap at Carlisle (9f, good to soft, 10/3) 19 days ago, keeping on gamely. Has to be taken seriously again.

Maiden who ran some way below best form this season when seventh of 8 in handicap (12/1) at Ripon (9.8f, good) on latest outing in June. However, she returns from 6 weeks off with her yard going well and she's not dismissed out of hand.

Caused a major shock with a visor/tongue tie fitted at Pontefract (10f) in June and backed that up when creditable third of 7 in handicap at this course (12.1f, good to firm) 25 days ago. Looks competitive on form.

Bounced back to form when runner-up in Ripon Ladies Derby on penultimate start and best not judged too harshly on her latest run at Pontefract 29 days ago having gone off too hard. Visor goes back on now.

First run since leaving Tony Coyle/off 8 months when last of 11 in handicap at this C&D (good to soft, 200/1) 14 days ago. Much more needed if she's to figure.

Forecasts

Evelyn's Phoenix (3/1), Sisterandbrother (9/2), Irv (5/1), Dogged (7/1), Love Yours (8/1), Lord Warburton (17/2), Masque Of Anarchy (12/1), Natchez Trace (14/1), Rayena (18/1), A Shining Moon (28/1), Daniel Deronda (50/1), Straitouttacompton (80/1), Selby's Joy (150/1)

Verdict

EVELYN'S PHOENIX boasts a positive profile coming here, finding further progress when doubling his tally at Carlisle (9f) 3 weeks ago. Unexposed at this trip, he looks to hold solid claims again. Last year's winner Dogged and Sisterandbrother are others to consider along with Irv. Love Yours would also need factoring in, particularly if the market spoke in her favour.
