Showed plenty to work on making hurdling debut when third in novice event here last February. However, she failed to build on that in 4 subsequent starts, including when hooded for the first time (retained) when last seen here 11 months ago.

First piece of worthwhile form when third of 9 in a handicap chase here (20.4f, good) last month. 2 lb lower back hurdling and wouldn't be without an each-way chance if able to build on that in a first-time tongue strap.

Made the frame all 3 starts over hurdles and positive start in this sphere when third in a 7-runner Fakenham handicap (21.2f, heavy) in December. However, she was again too keen at Taunton last time and will need to settle better back hurdling with a tongue strap enlisted.

Winless following half-a-dozen runs between the flags and form on the Flat was modest. On the upside, he has made the frame in each of his 3 qualifying runs in this sphere and, assuming he's ready to roll following a break, he could have a part to play on this handicap debut.

Related to some useful performers in these silks and she has performed with credit on each of her 3 completed starts in handicap company, finding just one too good at Ludlow (21.2f, good) last time. Likely to be in the thick of things once again.

Modest in bumpers and similar standard in this sphere to date. Others preferred.

Failed to meet expectations on sole bumper outing and well held all 4 starts over hurdles. However, wouldn't be the first from this yard (and certainly not in these famous silks) to take a big step forward on this handicap debut. One to note in the betting.

Showed glimmers of ability in maiden/novice company and bettered his handicap debut effort when a creditable third in a 10-runner contest at Sedgefield (19.8f, heavy) in March. Each-way chance if able to build on that now that he encounters faster ground.

Winner of just one of his 11 starts between the flags and record stands at 0-14 under Rules. Blinkers applied.

Sole win came in handicap chase at Ffos Las in June 2021. Runner-up in a couple of handicap chases during the winter but pulled up on latest start at the beginning of February and hard to know what to expect of him back over hurdles.

Down the field in bumpers and, having offered little in 3 novice hurdles, she again ran poorly (pulled up) on handicap debut at Market Rasen (20.6f, heavy) last time.

Forecasts

Giulietta (10/3), Top Of The Bay (7/2), Our Nel (4/1), Hillsin (6/1), Jongleur D'etoiles (15/2), Knacker Trapper (17/2), Western Jill (10/1), Mizuma (12/1), Hubbel Bubbel (12/1), Fly Awhile Johnny (20/1), No Quarter Asked (40/1), Lily Baloo (40/1), Rhyme Scheme (100/1)

Verdict

Only two of the 13 due to go to post have won under Rules. HILLSIN has been something of a sinner when it comes to failing to win, with his record now standing at 0-19. However, he probably should've won on sole start for Chris Honour at Worcester last summer and the form of his latest effort at Exeter reads well in the context of this race. It's surely a matter of time before Giulietta picks up a race and she is feared most ahead of handicap debutants Fly Awhile Johnny and Jongleur d'Etoiles.
