Useful handicap chaser who proved a major let-down back in that sphere at this course (16.3f, good to soft) 35 days ago, broke blood vessel. Reverts to the smaller obstacles off a lower mark but comes with risks attached on the back of that.

One-time very smart hurdler for Henry De Bromhead but has made little impact for current connections. Cheekpieces on for 1st time.

Hard-pulling front runner who ran to a fairly useful level in defying a penalty in a 11-runner novice at Ayr (2m) 10 months ago. That form has worked out well and he's a big player on handicap debut.

Rising 11 but he was better than ever when returning from 5 months off to win at Perth (2m, heavy) in September. Below par both starts since, though.

Has fallen in the weights and looked unlucky not to finish closer when third in 6-runner handicap hurdle at Doncaster (19.4f, good) 24 days ago, short of room passing omitted final hurdle. Must enter calculations.

Winner in France and promising start for this yard when third in the Victor Ludorum here in February. Has yet to build on that but has shaped well both starts this term, including in a hotly-contested Sandown handicap (2m) 3 weeks ago.

Forecasts

Punta Del Este (5/2), Start In Front (11/4), Jason The Militant (11/2), Thereisnodoubt (13/2), Fortescue Wood (13/2), Cheddleton (11/1), Gaelik Coast (12/1)

Verdict

PUNTA DEL ESTE has shaped well on both starts back this term and is fancied to get off the mark for his current connections now returning to the scene of his excellent third in the Victor Ludorum. Fortescue Wood's Ayr win 10 months ago has worked out well, so he's considered a big threat on his handicap debut, while Gaelik Coast and Start In Front also command plenty of respect.
