JETS Richard Davis Awards Handicap Chase

Off time: 15:06 | Winning time: 5m 18.09s

Zestful Hope³³

Age: 6| Weight: 12-0| J: Lily Pinchin⁽³⁾| T: C E Longsdon| OR: 119| D

17/2

Fair hurdler who made a positive start in this sphere towards the end of last season. Likely needed his return over the smaller obstacles at this course last month and looks well worth considering.

Form: 41832-7

Hartur D'oudairies²³¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-13| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 118| BF| C

10/3

Fairly useful form over hurdles, shaping better than the result a couple of times. Has the physique/racing style to make a better chaser, so one to note if the market speaks in his favour after 7 months off.

Form: 115/225-

High Game Royal²¹¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-10| J: Ben Jones| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR: 115

7/2

Runner-up only outing in bumpers in France and left previous hurdles form behind when making a successful handicap debut at Chepstow 7 months ago. Should take to chasing, so not one to rule out.

Form: 252331-

Inflexible²³³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-9| J: J J Burke| T: T R George| OR: 114

12/1

Performed with credit both outings in France and fair form over hurdles so far for current stable. Has some potential back over larger obstacles after 7 months off.

Form: 62/245-

Sageburg County¹⁷⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-8| J: James Bowen| T: W Greatrex| OR: 113WS

6/1

Won on sole outing in Irish points and stepped up on hurdling form when making a successful start to his chasing career at Market Rasen 5 months ago. More to come and worth a chance to follow up on return.

Form: 42423-1

Master Malcolm^b,t²⁰⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-3| J: James Best| T: Mrs E Bishop| OR: 108| D

40/1

Career best when winning 8-runner handicap chase (7/4) at Huntingdon (19.9f, good to soft), bit in hand. Off 6 months. Can feature again if ready to go.

Form: 534211-

Pilsdon Pen^p¹⁸²

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: Rex Dingle| T: J Scott| OR: 107WS

18/1

Three-time hurdles winner, the latest at Exeter (16.7f, soft) a year ago. Held form after and could feature if taking to this new discipline.

Form: 2/1334-2

Pepe Le Moko³⁰³

Age: 5| Weight: 11-1| J: David Noonan| T: Mrs J Williams| OR: 106| BF

7/1

Showed fair form over hurdles and is bred to take to this discipline, so he's not without hope for all he has a 10-month absence to overcome.

Form: 4/3642-

Eyed^t²¹¹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: D A Jacob| T: P R Webber| OR: 105| BF| D

11/1

Winner over hurdles at Huntingdon in March. Off 7 months. Makes chase debut. Worth a market check on return.

Form: 4P/7P13-

File Illico^p¹⁹⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-0| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.| T: J & A O'Neill| OR: 105

33/1

Won 4 times in a very productive first season over fences but generally disappointing last term. Returns on a handy mark as a result, so worth a market check.

Form: PPP284-

Twenty Twenty¹⁸¹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-13| J: Aidan Weaver⁽¹⁰⁾| T: G & J Moore| OR: 104| D

150/1

Fairly useful chaser at best but has taken little interest on his last two starts and will probably need his first run for 6 months.

Form: 421/3-FP

Gallow Ford⁵⁵¹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-11| J: G Sheehan| T: Katy Price| OR: 102| BF

14/1

Point/hurdles winner whose chasing debut in a handicap at Worcester 18 months ago wasn't devoid of promise. He's not been seen since, though.

Form: 56214/4-

Valirann Gold^h,t²¹⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 10-2| J: Shane Quinlan⁽³⁾| T: H Brown| OR: 88

50/1

Much improved for the switch to front-running tactics when scoring over 2m at Chepstow in January and back on track to some degree at Ascot 7 months ago. Likely to find this tough from out of the weights, though.

Form: 661333-

Non-Runners

Forecasts

Hartur D'oudairies (10/3), High Game Royal (7/2), Sageburg County (6/1), Pepe Le Moko (7/1), Zestful Hope (17/2), Eyed (11/1), Inflexible (12/1), Gallow Ford (14/1), Mister Who (16/1), Pilsdon Pen (18/1), File Illico (33/1), Master Malcolm (40/1), Valirann Gold (50/1), Twenty Twenty (150/1)

Ex-pointer SAGEBURG COUNTY was most impressive on chasing debut and he's fancied to maintain his unbeaten record in this sphere. Zestful Hope is a danger with a run under his belt and Hartur d'Oudairies looks the pick of the chasing newcomers.
