Course winner. Twelfth of 13 in handicap (28/1) at York (7.9f, good) 18 days ago. Has dipped to a very attractive mark and, though disappointing subsequent to an encouraging effort at Thirsk in June, he has to be respected now eased in class.

Unreliable type. 4/1, improved on recent efforts to win 10-runner handicap at this C&D 17 days ago, kept up to work. 5 lb rise fair enough but it remains to be seen if he will be able to reproduce that form.

Three wins from 9 runs this year. 5/1 and visored for 1st time, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this C&D 17 days ago, well on top finish. Hard to quibble with a 6 lb rise and he's a major player.

Below form seventh of 12 in handicap (10/1) at Musselburgh (9f, good) 4 days ago, slowly away. Hopes now pinned on the addition of blinkers helping to spark a return to form.

Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, ninth of 11 in minor event at Newmarket (8f, good) 25 days ago. Sizeable step forward needed now handicapping but he's in good hands and improvement is certainly possible.

Cheekpieces on for 1st time, respectable third of 6 in handicap at Thirsk (8f, good to soft, 7/2) 18 days ago. Down 3 lb and should be in the mix if responding positively to the change of headgear (now tried in a visor)

Forecasts

Urban Road (7/2), Port Erin (9/2), Little Ted (6/1), Absolute Dream (7/1), Duke Of Wybourne (15/2), Cosa Sara (8/1), Royal Prospect (12/1), Streetstorm (12/1), Galton (12/1), Explorers Way (28/1)

Verdict

Though winless following a dozen attempts, DUKE OF WYBOURNE went close off an 11 lb higher mark over C&D on his latest visit here in April. He has largely struggled since but took a step back in the right direction when third in first-time cheekpieces at Thirsk recently and perhaps the more severe headgear he sports here will help eke out a bit more. Urban Road did the job well over C&D last time and is feared most ahead of Absolute Dream, who looks dangerous now dropping to 0-60 company.
