Won twice over C&D last summer for Harry Whittington but offered little on return for new yard in handicap hurdle at this course (20f, good) 19 days ago, dropping away before sixth. Bit to prove after that.

Three-time winner who looked rusty on recent return at Warwick having been off 17 months. This should reveal more.

Encouraging start to chasing last season but ran no sort of race over fences here last month and has lots to prove reverting back to the smaller obstacles.

Showed fair form in bumpers but has struggled over hurdles, faring no better when thirteenth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) 65 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter.

Remains a maiden after 18 NH runs but has made the frame in all 5 starts for Nigel Hawke, again running well when second of 8 in handicap hurdle (10/3) at Uttoxeter (23.3f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Has to be taken seriously.

Bumper winner made a promising start in handicaps when second at Ffos Las in March. Poor efforts both starts since, though, and others are preferred.

Justified support when winning 6-runner handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, good) 32 days ago, kept up to work. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Unexposed over this trip and merits consideration.

Returned to form after a wind-op when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft, 5/1) 34 days ago. Solid place claims again from same mark.

Lightly-raced over hurdles but seems to have gone sour as a chaser, tailed off before halfway at Southwell last time. Hard to fancy.

Unreliable type. Course winner. 33/1, showed his first form for some time when fifth of 8 in handicap hurdle at this course (20f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Others are still more persuasive.

Showed her first form over hurdles when third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (20.4f, good to soft) 7 days ago. Well positioned on that occasion and now needs to back that up from 2 lb out the handicap.

Forecasts

Jack The Farmer (3/1), Barnards Green (9/2), Hollow Ron (6/1), Walk In The Storm (15/2), Robbie Dazzler (15/2), Top Man (8/1), Kimberley Eve (10/1), Sheila Nash (14/1), Doors Breaker (14/1), Gastara (18/1), Ulysses (25/1), Begoodtoyourself (80/1)

Verdict

JACK THE FARMER is a long-standing maiden but has posted a series of good efforts in defeat since joining Nigel Hawke and looks to have found a reasonable opportunity to get off the mark here. Hollow Ron produced an improved performance to score at Uttoxeter last time and rates as the most serious threat, with Robbie Dazzler making most appeal of the remainder.
