Grand servant who defied top weight in a handicap (from 3 lb lower) for the fifth time in the Badger Beer at Wincanton on return. Gone with his customary enthusiasm before weakening in top events since (placed in the King George over C&D having won it in 2020). Some feat if he were to take this.

2020 Ryanair runner-up who opened account for Paul Nicholls in Grade 2 at Sandown (22.8f) in April under Harry Cobden. Hasn't fired in 2 runs at that level this season ridden by owner, but given a chance by the handicapper. Capable of a bold show if staying.

Progressed well 2 seasons back, landing this contest from his current mark. Lightly raced since, but shaped as if retaining most of his ability after 14 months off here in January (given a very patient ride) and he's a player if he's come on from that.

Dual handicap winner over 2½m last term, including here in March. Tough race when shaping well on return at Market Rasen and given a break since flopping at Newbury a month later. Dropped 3 lb and capable of giving these a scare if he stays.

Jumped his rivals into the ground from the front in C&D handicap in the mud 6 weeks ago. 7 lb rise leaves him on a career-high mark in this tougher contest but he has posted back-to-back wins in the past.

Took another step forward as he resumed winning ways under top-weight in a 3m Ludlow handicap that rather fell apart 10 weeks ago, digging deep to hold on. Needs more up 3 lb in this deeper contest.

Smart winner over fences in 2020/21 but he has failed to complete on 5 of his last 6 starts, quickly done with from halfway in the C&D handicap won by Annsam 6 weeks ago. Fourth in this in first-time cheekpieces (back on) last year on the one time he did get round, but plenty to prove now.

Shaped well in a couple of top handicaps last season, including this race, and bagged a good pot on his return at Ascot in October off 5 lb lower. Remains unexposed over this sort of trip and a big run looks on the cards.

Back-to-back winner here last season, including at this meeting. Not so good twice after a promising return at Ascot this time around but his mark has dipped and he has cheekpieces back on now.

Successful in handicaps 6 months apart at Fontwell and Exeter at up to 19f this term, but jumped poorly and folded tamely when well backed at former track when last seen in December. Returns in tough race with stamina to prove.

Back to winning ways with sights lowered as he landed a gamble in 2½m Leicester handicap 3 weeks ago. Back up 5 lb/in class now and not an obvious type to follow up over this longer trip.

Landed a gamble under this rider as stable enjoyed a superb 1-2 in this last season and he resumed winning ways in valuable 3m Ascot contest last week, powering clear from the last. No surprise to see him go well again under a penalty.

Impressed as he landed a gamble in C&D handicap a fortnight ago, always prominent and jumping well. More needed under a penalty in this company but he's proving largely reliable and couldn't be dismissed.

Forecasts

Cap Du Nord (7/2), Our Power (11/2), Killer Kane (13/2), Annsam (15/2), Saint Calvados (9/1), Flegmatik (10/1), Frodon (10/1), Clondaw Castle (14/1), Bobhopeornohope (20/1), Jacamar (20/1), Black Gerry (22/1), Enrilo (25/1), Killer Clown (25/1)

Verdict

OUR POWER is a second-season chaser with the potential for better still over 3m and he made the perfect return when landing a good pot at Ascot in October. Unlucky in this 12 months ago behind Cap du Nord, he can progress again with victory. Last year's winner is poised for another big run again under a penalty for last Saturday's Ascot triumph. Saint Calvados is interesting back under Harry Cobden, while 2021-winner Clondaw Castle and the admirable Frodon could rightly be popular too.
