Landed Grade 2 National Spirit on final start last term and took his form up a notch this season, landing big-field Haydock handicap (3m) in November. Ran poorly in Relkeel Hurdle here 4 weeks ago but bounce back rates distinctly possible.

High-class hurdler who landed this race for the third time last year prior to a fine third in the Stayers' Hurdle in March. Proved the fire still burns bright this campaign, turning the tables on Champ when taking the Long Walk at Kempton on Boxing Day. Leading contender.

Productive novice hurdle campaign culminated with success in Grade 1 Sefton at Aintree (24.7f) in the spring. Promise in landing back-to-back novice chase events this term prior to falling in Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day. Remains with potential back in this sphere.

Tough and likeable sort who resumed with a 2½m win over hurdles at Aintree in November. Good second in Many Clouds Chase at that venue next time and hard to knock his solid second behind Marie's Rock in the Relkeel Hurdle here on New Year's Day. Can give another good account.

Useful French performer who regained winning thread over hurdles at Fontainebleau (18.9f) in November. Matched that level when runner-up in minor event at Pau (17.4f) the following month but that form needs improving upon if he's to feature back up markedly in class/trip.

66/1
Useful chaser who capitalised on some leniency from the assessor to score over 25f here in October prior to a solid second in the Badger Beer. Seemed to find competition too tough in Coral Gold Cup subsequently and this rates a stiff task returned to timber.

20/1
Likeable mare who has built up a good strike rate, taking Wetherby mares' listed hurdle for second year running in October. Not in same form when last of 3 at Kempton in November though, and this assignment likely to demand a career best.

Verdict

Already a 3-time winner of this race, PAISLEY PARK has confirmed the fire still burns brightly this term, turning the tables on Champ from Newbury and finding plenty to boot when landing the Long Walk at Kempton on Boxing Day. He gets the nod to come out on top again, with another highly admirable type Dashel Drasher and Gelino Bello, back from a stint chasing, others to consider.
