Made it 3 wins from his last 5 starts when scoring over C&D just under a fortnight ago, prominent tactics giving him a big advantage given how things unfolded. Circumstances may not be so favourable here in his hat-trick bid.

Won a couple of big-field handicaps already on the turf this year and having shaped better than the bare result when eighth behind Good Earth over C&D earlier this month (caught further back than ideal after missing the kick and not getting the smoothest of runs) he's one to look out for.

Returned to form from out of the blue when third at Ayr last month and backed that up with a respectable sixth of 20 to Good Earth just under a fortnight ago, albeit well positioned on the speed. Likely to find a few too good.

Finally took advantage of a drop in the weights (started this year from a mark of 90) when scoring at Haydock last week, having the run of things in front and aided by a handy claimer taking off another 7 lb. Carries a penalty and unlikely to find things quite so favourable today.

Made a winning return to action at Wetherby and has looked back in form on his last couple of outings, having a good track position when 2¾ lengths fourth of 20 to Good Earth over C&D just under a fortnight ago. Mark eases a shade and could well hit the frame again.

Returned to form from out of the blue when bolting up at Pontefract last month (raced on advantageous part of the track) and proved that effort to be no fluke with a ready success under a penalty at Chester a fortnight ago. Up another 5 lb but merits consideration in his hat-trick bid.

Made a winning reappearance at Carlisle in May and doubled his tally this season dropped to plating company at Leicester in June. Below that level on his last couple of outings but has dropped to a handy mark as a result and this return to 6f sure to be in his favour. Interesting.

Successful at Hamilton in 2021 but not reached that level in 3 starts this term, latest when 4 lengths seventh of 20 to Good Earth over C&D just under a fortnight ago. More required is she's to get involved.

Reliable type who was unable to get involved on his first try beyond 6f at Ayr earlier this month. Back in trip today but looks vulnerable from a win point of view despite a sliding mark.

Offered very little in 2021 but having stopped the slide when fourth on reappearance at Pontefract, built on that despite being 4 lb out of the handicap when winning over C&D just under 6 weeks ago (runner-up won twice since). Remains well treated on old form so she's shortlisted.

On a lengthy losing run but has hit the crossbar on numerous occasions, including 4 times last season . Tough to support with confidence on recent showings but unwise to rule out here with his mark on the slide.

Stepped up on his comeback run to gain a narrow victory at Haydock in April and matched that form after a couple of lesser efforts when ½-length second of 6 to Muscika back at that venue last week. Could go well again.

Yet to get her head in front this term but from a tumbling mark, wasn't entirely disgraced having been hampered at the start under this good-value claimer at Hamilton last week. Step back up to 6f should suit but others seemingly hold stronger credentials.

Not as his best this season but took a step back in the right direction with his mark back down into the 60s when fourth at Doncaster just over a fortnight ago. This much more competitive so percentage call is to look elsewhere.

Largely consistent type who opened his account for the season at Thirsk in April. Not seen to best effect when 4 lengths seventh of 8 to Late Arrival at Chester recently and looks vulnerable from a win point of view.

Verdict

Cases can be made for several but the most compelling is for AS IF BY CHANCE. Nigel Tinkler's charge seemed to finish with running left having been caught further back than ideal when eighth to Good Earth over C&D earlier this month and, having eased a shade in the weights, he gets the vote to notch a third big-field handicap of the season. Nearly A Gonna has dropped to a handy mark so he's put forward as the main danger, ahead of Our Little Pony and the hat-trick seeking Late Arrival.
