66/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to soft) 33 days ago, losing place over 2f out. Mark continues to ease but needs to show more before becoming of interest again.

2 wins from 5 runs this year. 11/8, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 54 days ago, pushed out. Remains unexposed as a sprinter and he's worthy of consideration again.

Latest win at Lingfield (7f) in March and she arrives here in good order, creditable third of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good, 11/2) 11 days ago, weakening final 100 yds having made an eye-catching forward move. This less demanding.

Ended last year with success at Kempton (6f) in December and solid enough return when fourth on return at Wolverhampton (6f) in May. NOt seen to best effect at first-named venue since and better showing anticipated.

Latest win over C&D in April. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap (18/1) at Nottingham (6.1f, good to soft) 10 days ago, nearest finish. Another good showing anticipated back on AW now equipped with first-time cheekpieces.

Twenty six runs since last win in 2020. 16/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Epsom (7f, good to firm) 5 days ago. Drops back in trip now but others arrive with more pressing claims.

Latest win at Bath in May. 5/1, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Consistency is hard to knock but present mark demands that little bit more.

Creditable second of 8 in handicap (13/2) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 54 days ago, no room final 1f and unlucky not to win. Should give another good account.

Winner at Wolverhampton (6f) in January. Last of 12 in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft, 22/1) 34 days ago, weakening from 2f out on the back of 4 months off. My well find a few too good back on AW.

Forecasts

Miss Bella Brand (4/1), The Nail Gunner (4/1), Sir Gregory (4/1), Bomb Squad (5/1), I Am A Dreamer (7/1), Amasova (11/1), Brazen Arrow (12/1), Starter For Ten (12/1), Mehmo (50/1)

Verdict

BOMB SQUAD has made a bright start for John Mackie, arguably unlucky not to win having had no room late on when runner-up at Wolverhampton in May. Gievn a short break since, he earns the vote to come out on top from the same mark. The Nail Gunner, who has landed 2 of his last 3 starts, and Sir Gregory head up the dangers.

  1. Bomb Squad5/1
  2. The Nail Gunner4/1
  3. Sir Gregory4/1
