18/1

Ninth of 11 in handicap (10/1) at Beverley (8.4f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Return to this trip no bad thing and one to consider here off a reduced mark with blinkers refitted.

Enderman^p²⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: G Lee| T: P T Midgley| OR: 55| BF| D

6/1

Sixteen runs since last win in 2020. Creditable second of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good, 10/3) 20 days ago. His turn shouldn't be far away and likely to give it a good shot.

Form: 986232

(18)

So Grateful^v³⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 9-9| J: Connor Beasley| T: M & D Easterby| OR: 55| BF

3/1

7/2, creditable second of 14 in handicap at Redcar (6f, good to soft) 30 days ago. Clearly knocking at the door, but it's hard to ignore the fact that he remains a maiden following 15 attempts.

Form: 525-222

(4)

Gorgeous General³⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 9-8| J: Laura Coughlan⁽⁵⁾| T: L A Mullaney| OR: 54| D

40/1

28/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 35 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter if he's to emerge on top.

Form: 19-5853

(17)

Foreseeable Future^v²⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 9-7| J: J P Sullivan| T: Mrs R Carr| OR: 53| D

22/1

Latest win at Doncaster in April. Last of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to soft, 15/2) 20 days ago. Would be a threat if on-song, but others look more solid on balance.

Form: 0-90178

(3)

Ustath³⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 9-6| J: Jonny Peate⁽⁵⁾| T: R Fell & S Murray| OR: 52| CD

20/1

C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. Fourth of 6 in handicap (12/1) at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 34 days ago. Others make greater appeal for win purposes.

Form: 922674

(10)

Hard Solution^v²¹

Age: 6| Weight: 9-6| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara| OR: 52| D

28/1

Sixth of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good, 7/1) 21 days ago. Needs to bounce back, but the assessor is at least showing mercy and he's dangerous to discount for that reason.

Form: 3005-66

(5)

Hurstwood³⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 9-4| J: Harry Russell⁽³⁾| T: P D Niven| OR: 50| D

33/1

Twelve runs since last win in 2021. 12/1, last of 12 in handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 35 days ago. Hard to warm to on the back of that low-key reappearance.

Form: 93060-0

(13)

Jet Set Go¹²

Age: 7| Weight: 9-4| J: D Swift| T: S Spencer| OR: 50

25/1

Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Fourth of 7 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good, 18/1) 12 days ago, nearest finish. Likely to come up short once more.

Form: 379-884

(12)

She's A Deva^v¹⁴

Age: 4| Weight: 9-4| J: Rowan Scott| T: N Tinkler| OR: 50| D

20/1

One win from 21 Flat runs. 14/1, good third of 16 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Each-way chance off the same mark here.

Form: 156-573

(19)

Canaria Prince^b¹⁶

Age: 4| Weight: 9-3| J: D Fentiman| T: T D Easterby| OR: 49| BF

10/1

Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Carlisle (5.8f, good, 10/3) 16 days ago. Will need to settle better if he's to open his account here.

Form: 650-324

(2)

Dreamcasing¹²⁰

Age: 4| Weight: 9-3| J: K Stott| T: Grant Tuer| OR: 49

6/1

Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 12 in handicap (33/1) at Newcastle (7.1f). Off 120 days ahead of this turf debut and it's best to look elsewhere.

Form: 65-00

(11)

Dylan's Lad¹⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: Lewis Edmunds| T: S R Bowring| OR: 48| D

33/1

12/1, last of 16 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 14 days ago. That was hardly an encouraging start to the campaign and he now needs to bounce back in a major way.

Form: 26748-0

(9)

Birdie Bowers¹³⁶

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: Jason Hart| T: D Thompson| OR: 48

80/1

Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f, 9/1) when last seen in February. Hard to envisage this 5-y-o breaking his duck in this contest.

Form: 330-520

(15)

Embla²²

Age: 4| Weight: 9-2| J: Paula Muir⁽³⁾| T: A D Brown| OR: 48

20/1

15/2, ninth of 12 in minor event at Chelmsford City (7f) 22 days ago, slowly away. Little impact on each of her three previous runs on turf and she looks set for another struggle.

Form: 922-249

(14)

Keep Me Happy¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: Joanna Mason| T: D M Loughnane| OR: 54

12/1

4/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good) 14 days ago. Likely to give another good account, albeit without being quite good enough.

Form: 480-233

(1)

Kolossus^h¹⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 9-0| J: O McSweeney⁽⁵⁾| T: D Thompson| OR: 46| D

40/1

One win from 28 Flat runs. Twenty-five runs since last win in 2018. 11/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Carlisle (5.8f, good) 16 days ago, finding little. Limited appeal.

Form: 2008-09

(20)

Qwicken^b¹⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 8-13| J: Cam Hardie| T: Ollie Pears| OR: 52

50/1

Eighth of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm, 25/1) 17 days ago. She looks pretty limited judged on the evidence available and others are preferred.

Form: 80-8738

(16)

Brazen Idol⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 8-12| J: Cieren Fallon| T: S Pearce| OR: 51| BF| D

11/2

Winner at Wolverhampton in April. Evens, very good second of 11 in handicap back there (6.1f) 9 days ago, very slowly away. Obvious claims off the same mark.

Form: 80-4142

(8)

Royal Emerther^b1¹⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 8-11| J: C Lee| T: K R Burke| OR: 50

28/1

17/2, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time and possibilities here if matching the form he showed at Bath and Ayr during the spring.

Form: 8-43060

Forecasts

So Grateful (3/1), Brazen Idol (11/2), Dreamcasing (6/1), Enderman (6/1), Canaria Prince (10/1), Keep Me Happy (12/1), Asmund (18/1), Embla (20/1), Ustath (20/1), She's A Deva (20/1), Foreseeable Future (22/1), Jet Set Go (25/1), Royal Emerther (28/1), Hard Solution (28/1), Dylan's Lad (33/1), Hurstwood (33/1), Gorgeous General (40/1), Kolossus (40/1), Qwicken (50/1), Birdie Bowers (80/1)

BRAZEN IDOL was arguably unlucky not to make it 2-2 at Wolverhampton last week, given the ground he lost at the start, and compensation awaits off the same mark here. Asmund continues to drop down the weights and could be the one to follow the selection home, while Royal Emerther will be a threat if the first-time blinkers have the desired effect.
