Still a maiden after 15 starts but has finished runner-up both starts this season, including over C&D (good to firm, 9/4) 8 days ago. Capable of going well from this mark but he's not the most willing under pressure.
Scored at Windsor in April and followed up over C&D (by neck from Redrosezorro) 19 days ago, finding plenty to snatch the race late. Up another 3 lb but still well treated on best form.
6-time course winner produced another fine effort here when a neck second to The Armed Man over C&D 19 days ago. Almost certain to give another good account.
Won back-to-back events at Ripon/Redcar in 2021 but hasn't found form yet this term, refusing to settle at Wetherby last time. Claims if back to best but that has to be taken on faith.
Five-time winner in 2021 and has generally held form this term, again making the frame at Carlisle 12 days ago. Generally races over 5f but no reason nowadays but no reason why he can't go well again.
Won here and at Yarmouth (both 7f) only final 2 runs in 2021 and shaped well when fourth here on his return 52 days, faring best of those ridden prominently, Back down in trip and probably has more to offer this year.
C&D winner produced a decent effort on return at Beverley but hasn't matched that level in a pair of starts since. Mark sliding but now has bit to prove with visor on for first time.
Patchy record since winning over C&D last term. Shaped as if amiss when well beaten here 38 days ago but has fallen to a workable mark.
Won over 5f here last season and stepped back in right direction when third of 9 in similar race 8 days ago. Back below last winning mark.
Not best when sixth at Nottingham last time but won a 17-runner event at Thirsk on his penultimate outing and he should be well in the mix if able to bounce back.
Scored at Wolverhampton in March but has been below form in a pair of starts since. Visor now goes on.
3-time C&D winner. 8/1, respectable 2 lengths third of 9 to The Armed Man in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 19 days ago, nearest finish. Enters calculations.

Special Mayson (15/8), Stalingrad (10/3), Redrosezorro (13/2), The Armed Man (10/1), Good Earth (14/1), Coley's Koko (18/1), Toptime (18/1), Lady Nectar (18/1), Eldelbar (20/1), Sfumato (20/1), Drish Hero (22/1), Wade's Magic (25/1)
An ultra-competitive event, with the vote going to SPECIAL MAYSON. Pam Sly's gelding appeals as the type to do better again at 4 yrs and should be equipped to cope with the drop back to 6f. The Armed Man got the better of course-specialists Redrosezorro and Sfumato last time, and all should feature again, whilst Good Earth is another with claims.
