Paddy Power 'Here For The Craic' Handicap

Off time: 16:10 | Winning time: 1m 27.19s

(4)

Samburu²¹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: L Dettori| T: J & T Gosden| OR: 88| D

4/5

Kingman colt who is 2-2 in novices over this trip, still showing signs of greenness but readily enough on top on his recent Salisbury reappearance. Definitely more to come and a mark in the 80s probably underestimates his ability (entered in Group 1 at Royal Ascot).

Form: 1-1

(7)

System²⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon| OR: 88

25/1

Had Cachet behind her when landing a 6f Newmarket listed last June but she's been unable to go on from that, finishing well held in a 6f Newmarket handicap on last month's reappearance.

Form: 21580-8

(8)

Mojomaker¹⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-9| J: W Buick| T: D Loughnane| OR: 88

5/1

Back to form with a bang when going down only narrowly in 6f Doncaster handicap (good to firm) last month. Back up in trip. William Buick won a handicap for the stable at Chester last week.

Form: 554-442

(11)

Snooze N You Lose²⁰⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 9-8| J: C Lee| T: K R Burke| OR: 87

40/1

Left debut effort well behind when beating a subsequent winner in Nottingham maiden in August. Struggled at Group 3/listed level in the autumn but more chance with sights lowered on return. Yard going well.

Form: 9187-

(2)

Another Investment¹⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-2| J: Rowan Scott| T: N Tinkler| OR: 81| C

66/1

Won 10-runner course novice (6f), good) last September but well behind the reopposing Mojomaker on his Doncaster return 19 days ago. Needs to have come on a lot.

Form: 701-5

(9)

Dayman²⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: Rossa Ryan| T: D Loughnane| OR: 80| D

14/1

Much improved when comfortably taking 7f novice at Wolverhampton in March. Creditable fourth of 7 in 7f Newbury handicap since but it underlines that he needs a bit more from this sort of mark.

Form: 06-174

(3)

Fast And Loose³⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-1| J: T Eaves| T: K A Ryan| OR: 80| BF

22/1

Improved when going down by only a neck in 6f Pontefract novice (heavy) 36 days ago. Steps back up in trip for handicap debut. Strikes as one who should have more to offer.

Form: 3-32

(5)

The Cookstown Cafu²¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: K Stott| T: K A Ryan| OR: 79

11/2

From a good family and showed plenty of ability when reaching the frame in maiden/novice events last autumn (C&D latterly). One of 2 handicap newcomers from the stable. Betting should help to separate them.

Form: 742-

(10)

Code Purple¹⁴

Age: 3| Weight: 8-11| J: A Mullen| T: B Haslam| OR: 76| D

28/1

Ribchester colt who was awarded a 7f Musselburgh novice last month after suffering bad interference around 1f out. Has shown the odd quirk but he does have the potential for better again now handicapping.

Form: 7-31

(6)

Matty Too²⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 8-7| J: D Fentiman| T: T D Easterby| OR: 72

50/1

Pair of 6f nursery wins last year. Will likely be sharper for his recent Beverley reappearance but probably vulnerable to less-exposed sorts in this line-up.

Form: 53145-4

(1)

Ha Long Bay¹³

Age: 3| Weight: 8-7| J: Joanna Mason⁽³⁾| T: A Keatley| OR: 72| D

16/1

Has returned an improved performer, winning handicaps at Catterick (7f) and Redcar (1m) last month. Those were Class 6 events, though, so this represents a fairly big step up in grade.

Form: 6075-11

Forecasts

Samburu (4/5), Mojomaker (5/1), The Cookstown Cafu (11/2), Dayman (14/1), Ha Long Bay (16/1), Fast And Loose (22/1), System (25/1), Code Purple (28/1), Snooze N You Lose (40/1), Matty Too (50/1), Another Investment (66/1)

A race which to some extent revolves around Group 1 entered SAMBURU who has the potential to be a cut above this 0-90 level and is taken to remain unbeaten. There should be more to come from Fast And Loose now handicapping so he's feared most ahead of Doncaster runner-up Mojomaker.
