Almazhar Garde^p,t³⁹

Age: 7| Weight: 11-12| J: Luca Morgan⁽⁵⁾| T: C E Longsdon| OR: 137| C

10/3

Useful handicap chaser who picked up 2 wins last season. Better than ever when second in Southern National at Fontwell but finished well held after making a noteable error in Borders National since.

Form: 71-6627

Sidi Ismael^p,t¹⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-10| J: T Scudamore| T: D Pipe| OR: 135

4/1

Won staying Kelso handicap hurdle for Keith Dalgleish in April and made it 3 from 3 for this yard on at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Up another 8 lb but open to further progress over marathon trips.

Form: 31-4111

William Of Orange^p,t³⁴

Age: 11| Weight: 10-11| J: Tom Midgley⁽⁷⁾| T: M Walford| OR: 122| C

22/1

Won 3 handicap chases for this yard in 2021 but has been pulled up on his last 3 starts, so has plenty of questions to answer at present.

Form: U12PPP

Supreme Escape^v1⁴⁰

Age: 8| Weight: 10-9| J: James Bowen| T: Evan Williams| OR: 120

5/1

Low-mileage 8-y-o who scored twice over fences last term. However, his profile is starting to look rather patchy, well held over both hurdles and fences on his last 2 outings. Visor applied.

Form: P51P-09

Chef D'Oeuvre^b,t¹⁴

Age: 11| Weight: 10-9| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 120

10/1

Possesses deep reserves of stamina but seemed to find it too much of a test when pulled up at Haydock a fortnight ago. Now 4 lb below his last winning mark so considered with blinkers back on.

Form: 510-P3P

Mance Rayder^b³³

Age: 9| Weight: 10-9| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: H Hogarth| OR: 120

16/1

Durable sort who was right on his game when runner-up here in November. Faced a stiff task from 4 lb out of the weights last time so not ruled out back up in distance here.

Form: 534U26

Classic Escape^b³⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 10-4| J: Sean Quinlan| T: P A Kirby| OR: 115

8/1

Ran about as well as could be expected when fourth in handicap hurdle here in November but not in same form at Uttoxeter since. Has left Dr Richard Newland and given a chance by the handicapper.

Form: 12F-945

Who's In The Box^p¹⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 10-1| J: Charlie Hammond| T: N Kent| OR: 112

16/5

Improved for a switch to fences last season, scoring at Market Rasen before backing it up with a couple of good seconds. Yet to fire this season so he's dropping in the weights. Headgear back on.

Form: 122-7P5

Forecasts

Who's In The Box (16/5), Almazhar Garde (10/3), Sidi Ismael (4/1), Supreme Escape (5/1), Classic Escape (8/1), Chef D'Oeuvre (10/1), Mance Rayder (16/1), William Of Orange (22/1)

SIDI ISMAEL has made a blistering start to life with this yard, completing the hat-trick at Market Rasen on Boxing Day and maintaining his unbeaten record over fences in the process. With further progress on the cards, David Pipe's charge gets the vote to land this stamina-sapping contest. Blinkers go back on Chef d'Oeuvre so he heads the dangers, ahead of stable-switcher Classic Escape.
