Made up into a useful 2m hurdler last term, but he trailed in last in Haydock handicap on his final run in the spring and made a disappointing start over fences at Uttoxeter on return. Tongue tie on.

£185,000 Irish point winner who won a maiden/novice hurdle last season. Needs to improve on that form from this opening mark but is expected to make a better chaser.

Won his first 3 starts (2 novice hurdles at Uttoxeter) in 2018 before falling early after 3 months off in the Dovecote. Not seen since but looks a chasing type. Market should reveal expectations.

Lightly-raced sort but showed an aptitude for hurdling after 13 months off at Exeter and duly left that well behind to win at Huntingdon. Should have more to offer now chasing on return.

Forecasts

Amarillo Sky (4/1), Red Rookie (5/1), Witness Protection (13/2), Brewers Project (15/2), Can You Call (10/1), Tokay Dokey (10/1), Java Point (12/1), Powerstown Park (12/1), Brave Seasca (14/1), Not Available (16/1), Shantou Express (25/1), Song Of The Hunter (28/1), Stormy Flight (40/1)

Verdict

A difficult handicap to assess with most of the field taking to fences for the first time but TOKAY DOKEY is potentially on a good mark on his hurdles form so could be worth chancing on his return from a lengthy absence. Amarillo Sky and Brewers Project both look chasing types and they head the dangers.
