Smart handicapper on his day as he proved when defying top weight at Hamilton (6f) in June. Largely below par since but he is back on a winning mark if first-time blinkers spark a revival.
Registered his fifth win of an excellent 2021 in Stewards' Sprint at Goodwood in July. Ran a blinder when third of 24 in Ayr Gold Cup last Saturday and another bold bid is on the cards.
Helped by a slight drop in grade when back to winning ways in 6-runner 5f Leicester Class 3 on Monday but will be needed under a 6 lb penalty in this deeper affair.
C&D nursery winner at last year's Ebor meeting. Firmly back on the up when scoring at Newmarket (6f) last month. 3 lb rise seems unlikely to prevent a prominent showing.
On a winning mark and he's back in form, albeit he did throw it away to some extent by hanging left when third of 12 at Doncaster 14 days ago. Good shout if he can plot a straighter course this time.
Powered home for second (just failed) having endured trouble-in-running at Windsor last month and ran another cracker when fourth of 16 in the Portland at Doncaster last time. Should figure again.
Deservedly back to winning ways at Pontefract (6f) in June and plenty of good efforts since. Poorly drawn in Ayr Silver Cup last weekend and treated as if still in form.
Dual winner at Nottingham and Newmarket in July. Respectable fifth of 12 at Chester last time but he will need a career best if he's to overcome his current mark.
Dual winner in 2020. This year has been a bit of a disappointment thus far but there were signs with cheekpieces added when third of 12 at York (6f, good) 19 days ago. Claims if headgear works again.
C&D winner but he's drawn a blank in 12 starts in 2021. Starting to look well handicapped but others arrive with more pressing claims.

A useful sprint to start with. CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD looks back in good enough form to take advantage of his current mark so he's selected in the hope that he can keep straighter in the closing stages than he did at Doncaster last time. Cairn Island is a 3-y-o on the up so he rates an obvious threat, while Mr Wagyu has just got better and better in 2021 and also can't be left out of calculations.
