Pretty smart on his day, particularly on AW. Most encouraging run of this season when third of 8 at Doncaster 3 weeks ago and likely to be thereabouts if in similar form.

Fine third in Craven on his reappearance but not up to the 2000 Guineas next time and last of 6 in a 1m course handicap back from a break in July. Down in trip now after another 6 weeks off.

Winner over 7f at York and Doncaster this summer but he does need to shrug off a poor run at last month's York Ebor meeting.

Didn't fire at York last time but he was a fine fourth in International over C&D prior to that, one of many good efforts he has here (dual C&D winner). Needs considering.

Course winner who got his head back in front for the first time this season when seeing off 9 rivals over 1m at Windsor 16 days ago. 4 lb rise fair but he's yet to win back to back in his career.

Useful as a juvenile and finally showed he still retains that level of ability when second in 7f Newmarket handicap last month. Not quite in same form when 3 lengths third over 1m there since.

Plenty of good runs over this C&D, including winning this in 2018. However, it's very hard to know if that level of ability remains as he was last of 8 on his recent comeback run after 2 years off.

Showed improved form back on less testing ground and in a first-time hood when scoring at Doncaster in June. Back from a poor run at Doncaster when 2 lengths third at Newbury (7f) 3 weeks ago.

C&D winner in July and has shown better form in defeat when runner-up at Newmarket (7f) and Newbury (1m) since. Nudged up another 2 lb but still looks on a favourable mark.

Gone through a good spell this summer, winning 3 times over 7f /1m. Latest fifth of 10 at Newbury (7f) suggests the handicapper may be getting the better of the argument now.

Forecasts

Cliffs Of Capri (4/1), Top Secret (5/1), Via Serendipity (5/1), Baashir (6/1), Documenting (17/2), Maxi Boy (10/1), Silver Samurai (11/1), Mystery Smiles (12/1), Orbaan (14/1), Ripp Orf (20/1), Mr Tyrrell (33/1)

Verdict

TOP SECRET is a handicapper going the right way and is fancied to resume winning ways under Nicola Currie. Cliffs of Capri has run several good races over this C&D so he has to be on the shortlist, while Documenting took a big step back in the right direction at Doncaster last month and should have a say with a repeat.
