Improved after 8-week break/gelding operation to get off the mark at the third time of asking at Beverley in July but failed to back it up in a Goodwood nursery and has a good deal to find with some.

Tough and likeable type who doubled his tally when scoring at Thirsk 27 days ago, well on top at the finish. Has the right credentials to make a bold bid in a race like this.

Arrives with a progressive profile having produced a solid showing from the front when second in a Newbury maiden last time. Needs to find more, but notable that Ryan Moore takes the ride.

Cost £120,000 as a yearling and confirmed debut promise when asserting late on at Ayr (6f) in June. Disappointed in C&D nursery (gelded since) 40 days ago and lacks the ability of some.

Verdict

SYSTEM did well to get up late at Newmarket on her penultimate start and she was far from disgraced up in grade subsequently, so a chance is taken on her to get back on the up and take this big prize for a stable that regularly targets these races. Ever Given has the best form to date, so he's respected, and Wings of War warrants a mention with further improvement on the cards.
