History Writer⁴³

Age: 6| Weight: 9-10| J: H Crouch| T: D Menuisier| OR: 88| D

28/1

Big improver in 2019, including heavy-ground listed win, but doesn't seem the same force nowadays and his last 2 Sandown efforts leave him with a bit to prove.

Form: 9-00800

Age: 4| Weight: 9-6| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon| OR: 84| C| D

11/1

Likable sort who hasn't looked back since equipped with cheekpieces, making it 3 wins in last 4 starts when seeing off 7 rivals at Kempton (1m) 36 days ago. Course winner. Likely to go well again.

Form: 54-1311

Form: 23-1653

(1)

Air To Air⁴⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-4| J: Nicola Currie| T: G Boughey| OR: 89| BF| CD

4/1

Added to 7f Newmarket soft-ground novice win when taking a C&D handicap (good to firm) in June. Shaped as if still in good form when ninth of 29 in Britannia at Royal Ascot since. Big player.

Form: 2-24119

(8)

Irreverent^p²⁷

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey| OR: 80| D

80/1

On long losing run but has not been this low in the weights since his 3-y-o days and ran some good races on AW earlier in year. May have needed the run back from a break last month. Headgear back on.

Form: 356250

(10)

Serenading¹⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: Ray Dawson⁽³⁾| T: J R Fanshawe| OR: 80

12/1

Ended 2020 with a pair of AW wins and returned in similarly good form on the grass, finishing fourth over 7f here before a good second over 1m at Newbury. Solid contender for Team talkSPORT.

Form: 3211-42

(4)

Bake²²

Age: 3| Weight: 8-11| J: M Dwyer| T: M Meade| OR: 82

9/2

Showed promise on the first of 2 outings as a juvenile and ran out a convincing winner on his 7f Yarmouth return 22 days ago. Potential for better again now handicapping.

Form: 34-1

(6)

Adelisa⁶⁷

Age: 3| Weight: 8-9| J: Dylan Browne McMonagle⁽³⁾| T: J P O'Brien| OR: 80

5/1

Has shown definite promise in maidens in Ireland, particularly when second over 1m at Gowran in April. Faded into third over 1¼m last time and now drops back in trip for handicap debut. Unexposed.

Form: 523

(11)

Sir Edward Elgar¹⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 8-8| J: L Dettori| T: J & T Gosden| OR: 79| D

13/2

Opened account on AW at Lingfield (1m) in January. Hasn't really advanced his form when reaching the frame in a couple of small-field handicaps since but it's still early days for his top yard.

Form: 33-132

(12)

Celtic Empress^h¹⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 8-8| J: Cam Hardie| T: D O'Meara| OR: 79| D

Form: 213123

(3)

Sugauli²⁰

Age: 3| Weight: 8-5| J: K T O'Neill| T: Tom Clover| OR: 76| D

9/1

Took a bit step forward returned to 1m when merely pushed out to score by 2½ lengths at Newbury (good to firm) 20 days ago. Raised 6 lb but could easily have more to come as a lightly-raced 3-y-o.

Form: 17-341

(7)

Canoodled⁴²

Age: 3| Weight: 8-4| J: Saffie Osborne⁽⁵⁾| T: E Walker| OR: 75| BF| D

14/1

Improved to win easily at Lingfield (7.6f, heavy) in June. Shaped better than result (caught too far back) when third at Leicester (1m) since. Another 4 lb higher now.

Form: 483213

Forecasts

Air To Air (4/1), Bake (9/2), Adelisa (5/1), Sir Edward Elgar (13/2), Sugauli (9/1), Tahitian Prince (11/1), Serenading (12/1), Dalanijujo (14/1), Canoodled (14/1), History Writer (28/1), Celtic Empress (33/1), Irreverent (80/1)

A cracking handicap. C&D winner AIR TO AIR didn't fare too badly on the unfavoured side of the track in the Britannia at Royal Ascot and is taken to strike. Serenading, Adelisa and the thriving Tahitian Prince head the many possible dangers.
