Back to form from out of the blue when easily winning the Brigadier Gerard over C&D (soft) in May. Ran well under his Group 3 penalty in Wolferton at Royal Ascot. Should give another good account.

Big improver on the AW this winter. Showed he's also capable of very useful form on turf when not beaten that far in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot but Euchen Glen and Fox Tal were in front of him.

Capable of smart form but temperament holding him back, typically looking irresolute come the crunch when seventh in Wolferton at Royal Ascot, with Euchen Glen once again ahead of him.

By Frankel out of an Oaks winner. Smart performance on just his third start when winning 1¼m Newmarket listed in May. Faded to finish well held in the Derby but remains a good prospect.

Made a winning start in good style on AW back in December. Stable has some smart middle-distance 3-y-os to compare him to, notably Lone Eagle, so interesting he's pitched in at this level on return.

Forecasts

John Leeper (5/4), Euchen Glen (11/4), Fox Tal (4/1), Father Of Jazz (15/2), Gloucestershire (10/1)

Verdict

JOHN LEEPER tends to take a bit of a grip so the drop back to 1¼m may help until he learns to settle better and he's selected to make it 3 wins from only 5 career starts. Brigadier Gerard winner Euchen Glen is the obvious danger, although it will be fascinating to see how much strength in the betting there is behind Gloucestershire given his stable also houses the very smart 3-y-o Lone Eagle.

  1. JOHN LEEPER (IRE)
  2. EUCHEN GLEN
  3. GLOUCESTERSHIRE (USA)
