Upwardly-mobile 3-y-o handicapper in 2019. Lightly raced since but smart effort when second at Ripon in first-time cheekpieces (retained) latest. Merits respect for yard which won this in 2019.

Useful performer in France who likely needed run after 19 months off when down the field at York on stable debut 17 days ago. Needs to have come on a lot.
Had some good form last year and shaped well when third of 14 in 1m York handicap 18 days ago, staying on to be nearest at finish. Big player off the same mark now stepping up to 1¼m for first time.
Latest win at Newcastle in November. Creditable third of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (1½m, good to soft) 17 days ago. Has finished second and fourth in this race before so no shock if he goes well.
C&D winner. Hurdle winner over the winter and in good form with a pair of placed efforts back on the Flat in recent weeks. Drying ground a bit of a worry, though.
Made it 5 wins in last 10 starts and posted a career best when seeing off rivals at Doncaster (1¼m, firm) 37 days ago. 3 lb higher in deeper race now but still dangerous to discount.
Useful sort. Good second of 12 in handicap at York (1¼m, good) 17 days ago, running on. Still relatively unexposed. Needs considering for a stable which has won this before.
C&D winner. Respectable 7 lengths third of 7 in handicap (7/2) at Ripon (1¼m, heavy) 15 days ago, unable to sustain effort. More needed now.
Visored first time, very good second of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (1¼m, good to soft) 17 days ago (first past post but subsequently demoted). Should go well if headgear continues to work.
80/1, below form ninth of 15 in handicap at York (1½m, good) 19 days ago. Others arrive with more pressing claims.
Seventeen runs since last win in 2019. 7/2, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Ayr (1¼m, good) 20 days ago. Drawn wide but he's certainly capable from this sort of mark.
Winning start for this yard on AW at Newcastle in April. Respectable fifth (Makram second) of 12 in handicap at York (1¼m, good, 50/1) 17 days ago.
5/1, career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Chester (1¼m, good to soft) 25 days ago. 3 lb rise demands more but yard is no stranger to success in this contest.
Won Cambridgeshire for amateurs at Newmarket (9f) last September, coming clear from off strong pace. Not so good under penalty in the main race there final start and below-par sixth on Ascot return.

Makram (10/3), First Impression (5/1), Chichester (6/1), Good Birthday (13/2), Faylaq (7/1), Hartswood (7/1), Kaleidoscopic (16/1), Highwaygrey (18/1), Baryshnikov (18/1), Anythingtoday (25/1), Nicholas T (33/1), Glasses Up (50/1), Eagle Court (50/1), Balgair (66/1), Khagan (66/1)
HARTSWOOD ran an encouraging race at York last time and it's worth taking a chance on his stamina now stepping up to 1¼m for the first time. Makram is another who shaped well at York's Dante meeting and this relatively unexposed 4-y-o is an obvious danger. Good Birthday was back on song in a visor last time so he's also shortlisted along with top-weight Faylaq.
