Had wind op before 50/1 winner of novice at Aintree (20f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 33 days ago, leading near finish. Next effort best excused and he remains with potential.

Placed on his second start in bumpers and showed plenty to work on when 14 lengths equal second on Sedgefield hurdle debut. Failed to build on that when only eighth at Warwick subsequently.

Well held both starts over hurdles, including at Wincanton 36 days ago. More one for handicaps on the back of this run.

Pointer-winner BUMPY JOHNSON was most impressive when making a successful start in a bumper and probably would have maintained his unbeaten record had he jumped with a touch more fluency at Hereford on his hurdling bow. With the benefit of that experience, he's fancied to find enough improvement to land this comfortably at the likely expense of Real Stone, with Grumpy Charley also considered.
