Two Flat wins this year and placed on the first of 2 starts in novice hurdles for new trainer this autumn. Still looks on a competitive mark but ability to act on fibresand has to be taken on trust.

Showed ability in pair of AW novices last autumn. Taken a long time to get her back but interesting that good yard perseveres and market support for her would look significant.

Has now gone 34 runs without a win since striking here in 2018, but he has been placed at this venue on his last 3 starts and ought to figure again with his yard going well.

Poor form. Distant fourth of 7 in maiden at this course (12f) 14 days ago. At least has more realistic chance now handicapping off basement mark.

Forecasts

War Empress (2/1), Mr Carbonator (4/1), Lucky Robin (9/2), Spring Run (9/2), Badessa (10/1), Country'n'western (14/1), The Resdev Way (20/1), Reassurance (22/1), The Detainee (22/1), Irish Minister (25/1), Drakey Boy (33/1), About Glory (80/1), America First (125/1), Rajapur (150/1)

Verdict

COUNTRY'N'WESTERN will be suited by this step back up in trip and might be worth chancing having dropped to the same mark as when successful at a similar time last year. War Empress and Mr Carbonator have been knocking on the door of late and are likely to have a say again. Andrew Balding handicap newcomer Badessa would also need considering if the betting speaks in her favour.

  1. COUNTRY'N'WESTERN (FR)
  2. WAR EMPRESS (IRE)
  3. MR CARBONATOR
