Wind op has had a positive effect, winning at Warwick and Sedgefield under Theo Gillard in recent weeks. Got no further than the second in his hat-trick bid last month and looks vulnerable.

Fairly useful winning hurdler in Ireland but has yet to make a serious impact for his current stable, well beaten in pair of Market Rasen handicaps. Mark continues to fall as a reult.

Showed improved form to get off the mark after 8 months off at Kelso (16.2f, good to soft) 40 days ago, asserting between last 2 and staying on well. Still unexposed and one to keep onside.

Seen to good effect from the front when easily scoring in conditionals event for the first time since his novice days at Sedgefield (19.8f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Leading player from same mark.

Won three 2m handicap hurdles in 2018/19 season but ran poorly all 4 starts last term and fared no better on return at Sedgefield last month.

Fair form when reaching the frame on first 3 starts in bumpers. Matched the form of his hurdling debut when third of 6 in novice hurdle at Ayr (16f, heavy, 17/2) 13 days ago. Makes handicap bow.

Scored at Southwell on his reappearance but below that form in all 3 runs since, last of 7 in handicap chase at Kempton 26 days ago. Switches back over timber on first start for new yard.

Found just one too good at Carlise on return last season but didn't get near to justifying support on his second start back there last time. Cheekpieces go on but needs plenty more to feature.

Back to form when second in a claiming hurdle for Louise Allan early this month and the money was down for him when filling the same spot in handicap for new yard at Stratford on Sunday.

Lightly-raced sort who lacked nothing for fitness after 10 months off when scoring at Newcastle in March. Shaped encouragingly after 8 months off when fourth at Carlisle and should come on from that.

Little impact in a bumper and 4 starts over hurdles in Ireland for Henry De Bromhead. Big step forward needed on this debut for new yard.

Forecasts

Phoenix Dawn (11/8), Cousin Oscar (7/2), Rob Royal (7/2), Dancewiththewind (11/2), Orkan (8/1), Tayzar (11/1), Romeo Brown (11/1), For Three (12/1), Lord Condi (25/1), Big Jim Dwyer (28/1), Suggestion (33/1), Lucky Icon (80/1), Wishful Thinking (100/1)

Verdict

PHOENIX DAWN was unable to justify strong market support on his first outing since leaving Louise Allan at Stratford last Sunday but can go one better here, having scored from a mark over a stone higher than this in the past. Cousin Oscar bolted up at Sedgefield 8 days ago and is an obvious danger from the same mark, along with the unexposed recent Kelso scorer Dancewiththewind.
